Why might this thread be effective? Because it touches some of the core structure of Christians. As I can see from your reactions some may be worried that INDEED Christians are so easily influencable. And they are. It's based on something very Christian: "Don't observe, but read. Don't think, but listen". Did you know that for hundreds of years even TRANSLATING or READING the bible was forbidden by Christians? It is at the very core of Christian gatherings to believe what the priest SAYS. A statement like "Don't use your intellect" (the first post in this thread) is a hint at that. Don't observe, don't make your own thoughts, don't doubt. Hypnotically believe. Christians LOVE "Believing by force". Even their god is a "God of force" punishing those who didn't believe. After all "Blessed are those who do not see, but yet believe" kept Christians going for millenia. Another related thing is that Christians believe despite of proof OTHERWISE. It goes like this: God massmurders half the planet but then closes his statements with "I am a loving god". In a Christian view his WORDS weight more than his acts. posted by knn |

Agent Zero: but you have o rights to try to kill someones beliefs knn. That's why I wrote in my first post knn: If someone tells you to stop to use "your intellect" then do the following If he tries to tell you to stop thinking then you have the fullest right to tell him that he is Satan's prey. posted by knn |

first of, my dad is a pastor, and is rather close minded. he wont believe that bunch of crap you're asking me to tell him. he would just ground me or something for that. muslims do pray a heck lot more and my dad does admire them for that. but there are other qualities he doesnt admire as well: suicide bombings, etc... two different religions anyway. christians also believe you shouldnt add on to what the bible already says. posted by sangu |

sangu: he wont believe that bunch of crap you're asking me to tell him. He will. It will do its work from within. Don't worry. sangu: christians also believe you shouldnt add on to what the bible already says. That's definitely NOT true. If your dad wears some kind of priest clothes then this is already added. Does your dad have a crucifix around his neck? Or in his church? Added! Remind him that if he knees in front of a crucifix, he prays in front of Satan's work. Say, to him that Satan LOVES it that people pray to/in front of a corpse. If he believes that the 10 commandments are still valid, that it's a sin to make a picture (= have a corpse on the cross). Thus he is Satan's double-prey. posted by knn |

knn: That it definitely not true. that like what jehovah witness does, adds on their little books to the bible. not about stupid crucifixes and stuff. anyway he's christian, not catholic, he doesnt wear crucifixes. if i say he prays to satan when he prays to God, this is whats going to happen: 1. looks at me weirdly and says, "what are u talking about?" 2. i explain ur weird reasoning 3. he says that God is still in control of the world. he lets human beings choose whether to folo God or satan. but he is in control. 4. he takes away my money if i push it too far. posted by sangu |

sangu: first of,
my dad is a pastor I am speechless. How could you have kept something like this from me... The ONEder Man: she's christian too, you really think she's gonna say that stuff? I can't believe knn actually wants sangu to say this to her own dad...who is a pastor. (Sorry, I just can't get over it knn: A statement like "Don't use your intellect" (the first post in this thread) is a hint at that. I have a question: since obviously this thread stemmed off from another, I am confused as to who said this: sangu or her dad? knn: No she shouldn't read this thread at all. As I write in the first post. Ha, you've never told me to stay away from anything 'non-Christian' before. I guess you've assumed that I've been corrupted enough by your Satanistic ideas. posted by nocturnal_anonymous |

knn: It is at the very core of Christian gatherings to believe what the priest SAYS. Precisely why I am starting to become more and more skeptical of the reasonings of my church. Sometimes, I just really have no clue what the pastor is talking about and where the heck he got his information from. Right now the English Congregation (my church is split into three different languages) does not have a pernament pastor, and the pastors from other places that stop by to speak are good, but the senior pastor of our own church...he stops by to speak around twice a month, and sometimes he just rambles on and on about something that has NO EVIDENCE at all. It was almost as if he just picked some random verse in the Bible to base his message on. ...One of his messages was titled, "Rest and work." ? By the end of his message, I was even more confused than I had when I first read the title of his message. He just basically said, "You see, first we rest, then we have to work" in five hundred different ways. If I said something like this in church, I would probably get mobbed by five thousand people and squashed like a pancake. posted by nocturnal_anonymous |

knn: Don't observe, don't make your own thoughts, don't doubt. Hypnotically believe. You know what's so ironic? I ask a whole lot of questions during fellowship and Sunday School (since we can't really talk while the pastor's preaching) and I try and sound modest or soften my words by saying stuff like, "Sorry I'm talking so much, I'm just curious"...and everyone says "THat's okay, thinking is good!" But once I was chatting online with one of our fellowship leaders, and I asked him a whole lot of questions (online chatting is the only place where you can get logical arguments sorted out Then I asked him something like "Well, isn't God contradicting himself in that way then?" DO you know what he said? "Well, who are we to argue with God..." That almost blew my head off. I spent an hour with him discussing about nothing and I get this response! fatpie42: Knn those arguments are some of the worst I've ever seen from you! I'll second that for most of his [knn's] arguments. That's the most absurd thing I've ever heard... Besides, priests nowadays are more up-to-date now. They were suits and ties. posted by nocturnal_anonymous |

sangu: 3. he says that God is still in control of the world. he lets human beings choose whether to folo God or satan. but he is in control. If god rules the world, why is it so messed up? Many people would answer the above question with a single word—God. But significantly, nowhere does the Bible say that either Jesus Christ or his Father are the real rulers of this world. On the contrary, Jesus said: "The ruler of this world will be cast out." And he added: "The ruler of the world is coming. And he has no hold on me."—John 12:31; 14:30; 16:11. Let him also read this: There is no need to guess at the matter, for the Bible clearly shows that an intelligent, unseen person has been controlling both men and nations. It says: "The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one." And the Bible identifies him, saying: "The one called Devil and Satan . . . is misleading the entire inhabited earth."—1 John 5:19; Revelation 12:9.
On an occasion when Jesus was "tempted by the Devil," Jesus did not question Satan's role as the ruler of this world. The Bible explains what happened: "The Devil took him along to an unusually high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory, and he said to him: 'All these things I will give you if you fall down and do an act of worship to me.' Then Jesus said to him: 'Go away, Satan!'"—Matthew 4:1, 8-10. Think about this. Satan tempted Jesus by offering him "all the kingdoms of the world." Yet, would Satan's offer have been a real temptation if Satan was not actually the ruler of these kingdoms? No, it would not. And note, Jesus did not deny that all these worldly governments were Satan's, which he would have done if Satan did not have power over them. So, then, Satan the Devil really is the unseen ruler of the world! The Bible, in fact, calls him "the god of this system of things." (2 Corinthians 4:4) posted by knn |

Jesus is the ruler of the kingdom of heaven. ANd soon enough he will be here. But for right now it is said that satan is the ruler of the air and such...so he has control over the weather and the way the earth is now. but when Jesus returns He will be in control not satan. get it? I could be wrong but that's my theology on the subject, everyone interprets the bible differently. I hope that clears some stuff up kid! posted by Agent Zero |
