 That's what's wierd about some of these secret societies - much of their "ideology" is about an Elite few controlling how the world is run. And yet their membership is often anything but Elite. I mean really, would you want to be in the same club as these guys? At least groups like the priory of sion ♣ had some talent in their ranks - or so they claim.

 I think it is fascinating how many people dis the 'secret societies' like Skull and Bones, Freemasonry, etc., when it is clear that those who do are not affiliated with them in any way, and in fact have no idea what the groups are really about. I am not a member of any of these groups, myself, and because of this, I would never presume to say I know what they do, represent, or teach their initiates. It does not help the groups in question that they are 'secret' in their rites and rituals - a trait that does beg the question, why be secret? What do they have to hide? I don't know, but in ancient times, the esoteric schools (called Mystery schools today) held secret rites of initiation, as well, and their purpose was not to keep an elite, but to hold sacred the teachings of the perennial philosophy. They knew that if the masses who could not understand the teachings were told the secrets, their own ignorance could destroy not only the masses, but the initiates as well. It is apparent from history that many 'secret societies' of today derive from the esoteric schools of antiquity. So why is it so difficult to believe that they, also, teach the perennial philosophy, which, for 'those with ears to hear', is an ultimate expression of peace? And yet, one must admit, without knowing what transpires behind the veil of secrecy, anything is possible! Still, I feel that all conspiracy theories should be taken with a BLOCK of salt.

The story you pointed me to was in the New York Observer, yes? The fact that I can't find any information online about the history of the newspaper, even the date it was founded, is suspicious to me. The tone of the story, as well as other stories in the publication, is very conversational, which, along with the lack of history, leads me to believe that this may not be legitimate journalism. We all know that the alternative, which is Tabloid journalism, is untrustworthy at best! So, I'm sorry, but that 'evidence' is not good enough for me. I can't view .avi video. Sorry!  If you've got it in another format, I could probably see it.

annaerullo: I can't view .avi video. Sorry! Could you elaborate a little, we might be able to help. The ONEder Man: didn't work for me either.. Now this is a little different, the answer implies that ONEder Man expected it to work, annaerullo's imples that he didn't. So here's a few basics. AVI is a file type, essentiully a wrapper to deliver video. The video itself is encoded with DivX, this is a video compression format and requires a DivX codec (coder / decoder) to be installed in order to play it. The two are not interdependent, DivX can be delivered in either AVI (the norm) or MPG (Another file type). Part of the confusion arises in the Fact that MPeg is also a compression format - well actually a suite of compression formats; MPeg 1 - older type of MPeg used in Video CDs MPeg 2 - new type used in DVDs But we don't need to worry about that since we're dealing with an AVI here. In short install DivX - there's plenty of places to download it from.[/i] posted by Marl64 |
