knn you must of liked what Hussein was doing right... Shortly after taking office, he purged and murdered dozens of government officials suspected of disloyalty. In the early 1980s, he used chemical weapons to crush a Kurdish rebellion in northern Iraq. Saddam’s power struggles extended well beyond his country’s borders; bent on dominating the Muslim world, he attacked neighboring countries. In 1980 he invaded Iran, launching an eight-year war that ended in stalemate. In August 1990 he invaded the oil sheikdom of Kuwait, proclaiming it Iraq’s 19th province. He defied U.N. directives to retreat from Kuwait, provoking what he called “the mother of all battles,” the Persian Gulf War that's an excert from CNN.com more you ask... The western media makes this guy out to be the good guy. He tried out ethnic cleansing by killing hundreds of thousands of shi-ites in north-western iraq, he tried out his mustard gas on one shi-ite town. he has tons of palaces, mistresses, and has fresh food brought to him 2 times a week including shrimp, lobster. while millions of his people sleep everynight with no food. more from Kill tally: Approaching two million, including between 150,000 and 340,000 Iraqis and between 450,000 and 730,000 Iranians killed during the Iran-Iraq War. An estimated 1,000 Kuwaiti nationals killed following the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. No conclusive figures for the number of Iraqis killed during the Gulf War, with estimates varying from as few as 1,500 to as many as 200,000. Over 100,000 Kurds killed or "disappeared". No reliable figures for the number of Iraqi dissidents and Shi'ite Muslims killed during Hussein's reign, though estimates put the figure between 60,000 and 100,000. (Mass graves discovered following the US occupation of Iraq in 2003 suggest that the total combined figure for Kurds, Shi'ites and dissidents killed could be as high as 300,000). Approximately 500,000 Iraqi children dead because of international trade sanctions introduced following the Gulf War. do you want more...i can get more. posted by Agent Zero |

1) It is yet unproven who has gased the Kurds. Iraq has always claimed (and Saddam Hussein still does) that it were the Irans. It is not proven that he did it. 2) Fighting against Iran is the very thing that made Saddam an allie of the US. It was the US that supported Saddam during that time, so you cannot use it now as an argument against Saddam. 3) The Iraq-Kuweit relationships is similar to China-Taiwan. Or even Russia-Czecznya, or Turkey-Kurdistan. It's nothing really THAT special. Many Iraqis still believe that Kuweit is a part of Iraq. posted by knn |

you people are screwd up. fine i hope you marry suddam hussein. cause obviously you love the guy. But do me a favor. tell all the iraqis people you meet you love him. oh and i dare you to go to iraq and announce that you didn't think he was a bad guy. when it comes to WMD's they had plenty of time to get them out of there while the UN was debating to send in inspectors. the UN is good for nothing and should be dissbanded. oh and let me give you something else to pick at. posted by Agent Zero |

C'mon Zero, fight the conditioning, you can do it. At least consider the possibility, that some of the things you are told by your teachers, politicians and media may not be 100% accurate. posted by Marl64 |

Agent Zero: so whats the problem That's what I was trying to figure out. You have some very strong beliefs, but most of them fit very neatly into the world as portrayed by the US propaganda machine. The suggestion that "the US was wrong to invade Iraq" is interpreted as an acceptance of Saddam Hussain and his policies. You seem keen to defend the actions of your leaders even though these are shown to be questionable at best. I just wondered what makes you so certain you (and your leaders) are right. posted by Marl64 |

Quote: i mean CNN bashes bush all day long I watch CNN, too, and I cannot confirm that. I see CNN pretty neutral as always. AND: Let's not forget that it was CNN and FOX and all the others that were biased beyond belief. FOX had 200:1 pro-war:anti-war supporters on air in high times. posted by knn |

Quote: You must have some very convincing evidence, but you seem reluctant to share it. Actually each and every evidence I have seen so far disappears at a closer look. Yesterday it came out that the White House was removing all "maybe"s and "uncertain"s from CIA reports just to push towards war. One could call this forgery.
