 A page in the history if Icelandic law was written today when the president denied to sign a new law that the congress wanted. It all happened when the Prime Minister of Iceland whent Crazy and wanted to make a new law and if made valid the non Goverment Companys could own less Media then before. This law was known as the ''Media law'' And the Prime minister came up with this idea because he was on a power trip. And he being the chairman of the ruling party he had most congress men on his side. But the Nation was against this. Because this would cut a piece off our freedom and also put us lower on the ''Top ten countrys whos Media is free to talk about anything they want '' (Sure this isn't what the Top then list was called but I'm having a real hard time writing this down using the right words so this might get a little complicated) So the president used his right as a president to let the people decide. And the Prime minister called him a fool. Idf you want to see the prime minister his name is Davíð Oddson ♣ Hope you will understand what i am talking about when you read this. Don't know...isnt the prime minister supposed to make all the big decisions and the Presidents is supposed to go to India or Germany or The Us or what have you and drinks Tea. And maybe take pictures. And shake someones hand posted by Pawnatron |

Theoretically the Monarch can overrule the Prime Minister, but it's rare. They act mainly as a figure head and something to amuse the tourists. posted by Marl64 |
