Sorry anomaly doesn't like Orlando Bloom... Maybe it's because he is exactly one year younger than I that I like him, or maybe it's just that he's just such a damned lucky guy (recuperated from a spinal injury, then got the gig as Legolas right out of film school) but I think he'd make a fine Bond... In about ten years. Unless they decided to do some sort of 'early years' of 007, I think Orly is just too young; but he definitely has the chops to play Bond... the swagger, the twinkle in his eye, the delivery of silly one-liners, the action hero stuntie stuff, etc. But such a thing as a 'younger Bond' movie might not go over well anyway--consider what Affleck did for Jack Ryan. Bad move, bad movie. Concordantly, Affleck would be a rotten 007, in my opinion. Have you ever heard him do an accent, aside from a Jersey one? Affleck's really only good at playing Ben Affleck; his best performances are the ones where the character is similar to his own personality. If anyone is still convinced Affleck can pull off Bond, I direct them to Daredevil - a valiant attempt at a superhero action flick that just didn't quite live up to its name. I don't think Bana, Law, or Ewan (as much as I love Ewan) would make a great Bond, either. Of course, the two best Bonds--that is, the truest to the novels--were the two that got the fewest films: George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton. Still, Connery is by far my favorite. Roger Moore was a tool. I liked Brosnan as Bond quite a lot, and I am sorry to see him hang up his PPK and license to kill. I'm sure the next one will be just fine. We'll just have to wait and see. posted by annaerullo |

ANNETTE: WHAT ABOUT BEAUTIFUL AND ELEGANT SCOTTISH ACTOR GERALD BUTLER?
HE IS TALL DARK AND HIS PRESENCE IS IMPRESSIVE! JUST LIKE A JAMES BOND SHOULD BE! I AGREE THAT GERALD BUTLER SHOULD BE THE NEXT JAMES BOND. I'M A BIG FAN OF JAMES BOND MOVIES. EVER SINCE I'VE SEEN THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA WITH GERALD BUTLER STARING IN IT. HE WOULD BE PERFECT FOR THE PART OF BOND, HE IS AT THE RIGHT AGE, PERFECTLY FIT, AND GEORGEOUS. EVERYTIME I WATCH HIM, HE IS JUST SO CAPTIVATING. posted by PIYAMAS |

Echelon: Yep. Nope. Last Tuesday the British tabloid the Sun "revealed" that Craig had definitely been offered the job in a three-picture deal. That story was picked up by several other news publications and run as fact as late as Friday. They ignored an April 6 BBC report saying Eon was refusing to comment on all casting rumors and stories, including the Craig signing. On Thursday some papers reported that Craig flatly denied he would play Bond but others kept saying he was it.
Then, bam, all those rumors were topped by the biggest Bond rumor of all: Brosnan was coming back. posted by knn |

February 3rd, 2005
Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, producers of the James Bond films, and MGM announced today that Martin Campbell will direct CASINO ROYALE, the 21st film in the 007 franchise. This is Campbell's second time as helmer of a James Bond film. In 1995 he directed the hit Wilson and Broccoli said: "We are thrilled that Martin has accepted our offer to direct CASINO ROYALE. He is an extremely talented director and we believe he will help take our films in a new and exciting direction. He is currently finishing filming MGM Vice Chairman and COO Chris McGurk said: "Martin is an incredibly exciting filmmaker. GOLDENEYE was a wonderful movie and helped reinvigorate the Bond franchise. We're thrilled to have him back to direct the newest Bond." Born in New Zealand, Campbell moved to England in 1966 and made his directorial debut on the popular TV series' 'The Professionals' and 'Minder'. He moved to America in 1986 to direct 'Criminal Law' and 'Defenceless'. Following GOLDENEYE, he went on to direct 'The Mask Of Zorro', CASINO ROYALE will be released in 2006 and distributed world-wide by MGM. No decision has yet been made regarding casting for the role of 'James Bond'. posted by Echelon |
