Quote: All bush wants is Oil. He doesnt care about democracy You're giving the guy way too much credit. I honestly think he doesn't know what the hell he's doing! I think that the only "good" thing that can be attributed to Bush is the liberation of the Iraqi people of Saddam Hussein's regime. But then that is also questionable because of the way that was achieved, and all the conspiracies and fake reports around it. I think Bush is just dumb, to be evil, intelligence is required. posted by Echelon |

Can one person give me a legitimate reason for disliking Bush, besides the war? posted by stinkz |

stinkz: Can one person give me a legitimate reason for disliking Bush, besides the war? Bush is not a good orator at all. As the lead public official/face of America, he should be able to give a very high % of his speeches/ Q&As without messing up, stumbling over his words, answering with good ol' country boy responses, etc. A president is a figurehead among other things and what comes out of his mouth should at least sound educated/informed. I would like to know if there has been a less eloquent president than him in the past in the US. Also, he doesn't read newspapers, doesn't watch the news, the people at his town meetings events are prescreened to support his positions. His aides are all yes-men, how can he really be objective if he isn't hearing more several opposing opinions on an issue? He believes America chose him as president. No, 1/2 of voters chose him. Now by not voting at all, you end up voting for the winner by default, but that doesn't mean that those nonvoters like/agree with him. posted by volonteshiva |

Perhaps you think public speaking is an important characteristic in a president. I hardly think so. The speaking ability of the President may alter public opinion, but it won't alter the way he will govern. There are much more important things, such as his political stance, and moral uprightness, which actually will factor into his decisions. posted by stinkz |

stinkz: There are much more important things, such as his political stance, Yes, but if you stumble over your words and cannot convey your thoughts very well/deeply and you don't know much about a particular subject then oration becomes very important in regards to a political stance. posted by volonteshiva |

volonteshiva: oration becomes very important in regards to a political stance. I'm sorry. I cannot possibly fathom how Bush's speaking ability could ever bias his decisions. A person's philosophy, political affiliation, and moral code can affect decisions, but speaking ability? Hardly. posted by stinkz |

Bush does not make all the descisions. He does not even choose what he says in his speeches. The president is supposed to convey the views of the government to the people and to make the case for the government's position in debates. Bush is a poor orator so he does not convey his views adequately. He is also a poor debater making him unable to properly argue the government's position. Bush wishes to ban gay rights to have public acknowledgement of their committed relationships. He also wants to ban stem cell research. These seem to be good enough reason to dislike Bush. Please don't say "wrong" again Stinkz! It is obvious that we are not going to agree here, but there is no objective right and wrong answer here. posted by fatpie42 |

A person's philosophy, political affiliation, and moral code can affect decisions, but speaking ability? Hardly. I am not trying to say his speaking ability affects his decisions. ok, let's say he has political stance B. As a politician he should be able to explain and debate that stance with some level of eloquence and knowledge. He has repeatedly shown that he is not good at that. His poor speaking ability affects MY decision to like him. A politician should be a good orator and a good debater. A person that is supposed to represent a country shouldn't be able to be beaten in a debate by a 9th grade debate-team member. posted by volonteshiva |

volunteshiva: His poor speaking ability affects MY decision to like him. That is the first true thing you said. I just wish you would focus on the more important characteristics of a president. It may be hard for a president to get people to like him, if he is a bad speaker, true. But that is the problem with the public, they worry too much about appearances, and too little about what matters. How do you think Clinton ever became president? posted by stinkz |
