i really enjoyed the movie. i thought it was gonna suck too but i liked it alot. as for america being seen as the major polluters...not sure where that's seen. i remember an american scientist not being believed about the world dieing. it is everyones fault. the majority you would say is in england...who gives a shit about the democrats. there all assholes anyways. oh and why the hell do you always bring politics into a discussion knn? i think you are starting to do it just to get me to leave...then everyone around will kiss your ass by agreeing with you posted by Agent Zero |

the whole world is at fault, but as with many things in life, the powers that be will do nothing untill 'they themselves' are threatened...dickheads! Fatpie, it's a disaster movie, not the works of Popper. It does exactly what it says on the tin and is highly enjoyable. posted by Crossfade |

Quote: and why the hell do you always bring politics into a discussion knn 1) Politics is everywhere 2) This _IS_ a politic-critical movie (with many sfx though) 3) This is a "Day after tomorrow thread" and that's what the director had to say about this movie. But he also said that there's a big difference between government and the normal people. The normale people rule, but unfortunately the government rules! posted by knn |

I liked the movie pretty much. Even though it's just another catastrophie movie, which makes it more or less predictable, it's a nice one, at least the humankind has to face something that was created by itself more or less rather than some aliens or asteroids. However I have a question: when Jack Hall finally reaches the NY city, how come he enters it from the Statue of Liberty side? Wasn't he supposed to come from the continental side? I am a bit confused Another point in favour of the movie is that it might raise the awarness of people of the global warming. Even though I doubt the lobal warming will have such drastic effects as shown in the movie, it doesn't mean nothing should be done about it. Quote: The Americans are the worst polluters of the world I'd say the problem is not that America pollutes most but that now it is unwilling to do anything about it. The government ignores all evidence that such thing as global warming exists at all and tries to create an impression that all the fuss about it is just an attempt to lure money from the country. posted by mymla |

America is so dependant on fuel that if you try to invoke some sort of cut down of polution the money involved to do it would be massive. And what do companies want to hold onto more than anything? Money! catch 22 methinks. Typical business attitude: "Hmm spend money and heal the planet or not give a damn and carry on as normal cause by the time the world suffers i'll be dead? duh!" posted by Crossfade |

China and Russia are the leading polluters of the world according to good ol jeeves! So its not the US we probably come in at 3rd. but the point is that the pollution of the world is not as bad as the crazies make it out to be. the fact is that burning fossil fuels recycles the carbon dyoxcide in the atmosphere. we need to do it to breathe. its a proven scientific fact. if we didn't recycle the carbon dioxcide we would eventually all suffacate. now it would take awhile but it would happen. posted by Agent Zero |

That's the reason why he backed out of the Kyoto treaty I suppose. And pressured the National Academy of Sciences to alter the results of their investigation in favour of what the administration needs to hear, so that people would think that Quote: the pollution of the world is not as bad as the crazies make it out to be posted by mymla |

How about this scientific proven fact? (before looking at this next one remember that I didn't make the site! It only mentions Bush because he is the president at the moment. I believe Clinton was guilty of polluting too.) Also I would like to point out that carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas and when too much of it produces it causes too much heat to be held in by the planet's atmosphere and thus global warming occurs here's a simple matter-of-fact explanation: posted by fatpie42 |
