 Allright, this works by originality, content, diversity and overall goodness rather than just a good guitarist and everyone else is awful. Don't add bands just cus you like them, add them because they're worth being called a Top Ten Band. Argue over someones entry and if the argument is strong enough, then they'll be replaced. I'll start by saying Jimi Hendrix. He's funky, great singer, one of the best guitarists ever and is the kinda musician people still listen to regardless of how old the music is. posted by hungarian kid |

 The band is called the 'Jimi Hendrix Experience' - Contains both Jimi Hendrix and Mitch Mitchell. That's plenty of talent to fit in with the criteria. posted by fatpie42 |

jet - mediocre at best red hot chilli peppers - Now these guys I love! Especially since seeing them live a couple o' months ago. They are awesome!
guns n roses - long haired band that annoy me intensely. Personal thing I guess. 'sweet child o' mine' ain't bad. doves - I saw them live. They were really dull. I was actually sitting on the stage with my back to them chatting to someone while they played. That's how little an impression they made on the crowd. - Sorry, not impressed. chemical brothers - Pretty cool, like it
the streets - It's just rap. Every song sounds the same. Funny songs I'll admit, but not that great. (Prefer Cyprus Hill any day - would have had a winking smiley here but it goes over the limit!) mr bungle - I haven't heard much of their stuff, but a friend of mine is a big fan. I love Ska Punk. Personally I'm a big King Prawn fan.

Metallica and Sabbath are great, the drumming in both bands is superb, the guitar riffs are awesome and the singing distinct. Love Ace of Spades by Motorhead, havn't heard anything else. posted by hungarian kid |

 would have been great if the lead singer hadn't died so early, i don't know if they can constitute as a greatest band since they only had 2 albums i believe, but they were damn good albums. posted by The ONEder Man |

I'd add another band but none of you would've ever heard of them, a band from my home town that made two albums but stopped cus of their familys, they werent around long enough to be widely known but they were still pretty professional for their short career. posted by hungarian kid |
