knn: Maybe the speed of light was different then Yeah, everything changed after the big bang, the Universe hasn't been the same since Of course the one thing that's faster than light is dark. Light may be fast, but dark is always there first posted by Marl64 |

Quote: The Big bang was the massive explosion that created the universe . It's the THEORY that it was the massive explosion that created the universe. For definitions use Google and type "define: Big Bang" posted by knn |

Ah. We call it "vamping" on my uni forum, (though this thread isn't so old) and is usually accompanied by groans =) My take on the big bang is that yes, it possibly happened, though I intend to do string theory research when I'm finished my masters [haven't started yet I think, for all the doubters, that it's often approached the wrong way. People hear "an explosion created the universe" and think "ha, yeah right that sounds plausible posted by bluewolf |

every scientist likes string theory...simply because it cannot be proved or disproved so why bother? posted by the anomaly |

Well there have apparently been some predictions made by it so it is falsifiable. If it wasn't, I'm sure it wouldn't be hopped on so much. And why bother? Because I'm interested, and I'm sure it can be proved somehow somewhere. Who wouldn't be interested in the big unifying theory? =/ posted by bluewolf |

The ONEder Man: Quote: Some scientific equation maybe that just randomly burst into the big bang. i read an article some time ago stating the big bang was the matter in the universe compacted in the size of an atom here's a different one Quote: 13.7 billion years ago, the entirety of our universe was compressed into the confines of an atomic nucleus. Known as a singularity, this is the moment before creation when space and time did not exist this does not address the idea of where consciousness come from as posted eariler in the thread Yes...Try imagining an electron shrunk down to a billionth of its size...Now, imagine that an ounce of matter is thrown inside of that miniscule electron...It starts expanding, and never ending, thus bringing us to the point we are at today...A never ending universe...How glorious By the way, Ash is the man, bro! posted by Holy Dope Nose |

The singularity that started out universe was zero, 11 or 22 dimensional (according to Big Bang theory) and with infinite energy. It wasnt constrained by the limitaions of this universes properties. Like wise, the speed of light can be disregarded. When the universe expanded , it was going faster than the speed of light AS MEASURED IN THIS UNIVERSE because it was expanding in another medium - the 0,11 or 22 dimensional metaverse, which has totally different parameters. According to brane theory, that would be a 5 dimensional bulk but still with totally different properties. You have to remember the laws of physics only apply to our inflated current universe, before that and outside that the laws and properties are anybodies guess. posted by guest |
