knn: * Some problems with other software are listed here: Then of course there's the problems NOT listed by microsoft - the ones they don't want you to fix For example the IP port limit has been locked at ten (half open connections), try to open any more and you get; Quote: EventID 4226: TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts What affect does it have? I just ran "netstat" (the command line which shows open tcp/ip connections) and my machine is currently using 116 ports. Now even allowing for the 96 currently in use by eDonkey, I'd still be using twice as many as Microsoft want (and the unpatched SP2 will allow). Fortunately there is a fix for it at posted by Marl64 |

I downloaded this thing successfully and it took approx 30 minutes to install on my 3Ghz Pentium (+ download time of course). But... what is that? It raises an annoying "Security alarm" (with a beep and a yellow bar in the Internet Explorer) for something totally safe. If I try to open this small html "Hallo World" example... <html><body><table style="filter2:"><tr><td>Hallo World</td></tr></table></body></html>
... IE warns me Aaargh! posted by knn |

Sadly this does not address the one you specifically listed, but this will turn of a couple of the naggy messages each time you start up - "You don't have any virus software installed and so your system will yada, yada, yada" and "You have Automatic Updates turned off and so your system can't grass you up..." Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
; Disable Security Centre Warnings "You have no virus protection" and "Auto updates are off" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Security Center] "AntiVirusDisableNotify"=dword:00000001 "UpdatesDisableNotify"=dword:00000001 Either copy and paste the above into notepad and save as a .reg file, or download the one below. To use, double click the .reg file and say yes to the prompt "Are you sure and all that.." Or you could simply turn them off from the security manager
