What the hell's a liberal?

In my country the conservatives are scpetical about involvement with Europe and against the war in Iraq.

I've never understood the term 'liberal'. You don't have to be a liberal to hate Bush.

You must remember this

You must remember them, they were the "also rans" of British Politics.

They kept doing deals with the opposition party to mess up the government. "Lib-Lab Pact", Paddy Pants-down and all that.

They became Liberal Democrats, Social Democrats, SDP and whatever else they wanted, in an attempt to get votes.

Anyway, We had Conservatives (NAZIS) on the Far right, Labour (COMMIES) on the Far left, and Liberals were the ones that bobbed about in the middle.

Dunno what it means in America Though White laugh

So liberal means "loser" then?

The only thing which makes the liberal democrats stand out is the fact that they are the biggest party to never win any elections.

Winston Churchill

Well Apart from...
Quote:
When the Liberals became the Government in 1905, Churchill was given the office of Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies. In 1908, he entered Cabinet as President of the Board of Trade.

However, they still managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory
Quote:
During the First World War, Churchill was transferred to the Admiralty. However, he championed the ill-fated Dardenelles expedition. He was personally held responsible for the slaughter of the Allies. The result of this disaster was that the Liberals were ousted from Government and Churchill himself was in limbo for two years.

Foggy definitions

Kind of. Liberal means "too little conservative". Too much abortions, too much hip-hop.

What means communist? Un-American, giving money to the poor.

Kind of foggy definitions.

I support the concepts of communism, but there's yet to be a brilliant example of a perfectly working communist country. But then again, there ain't no perfectly working countries.

Different countries different meanings

I just wanted to say, that in different countries there are different definitions. Even for terms like democrat. And especially for terms like left/right.
