No , I don't speak any Spanish except for one word. (That " No " is in italics because it's a Spanish word, the only one I know. It means "no" in English, unsuprisingly. Oh yes and I know el Tejanito , ONEder Man's nickname that he hates. It means "the little Texan." posted by MindSlave |

Sharaith: I chose French over Spanish in middle school (because they didn't have Latin ), and after three years of studying, I can sort of understand the French movies almost without looking at the subtitles at all! Isn't the Israeli education system wonderful?
Needless to say, I no parler espanol. That's actually pretty good, I've forgetten most of what I was taught of my 7 years of Italian at school and 4 years of French. If you get taught it properly though it seems to take just two years to roughly learn a language, and about 4 or 5 of using it to get to a pretty good level. posted by hungarian kid |

Exactly - "properly" being the operative word. We only had a couple hours of French a week, and for one of those three years, no one actually learned anything. At least this year there are only three girls in the class instead of twenty. Maybe I'll actually become fluent, one of these decades. posted by Sharaith |
