Win 98 crashes all of the time Win ME was treated as an interims version Both are old and the support is fading (both from Microsoft and from hrdaware producers). I have experience with Win 3.1, Win 95, Win 98, Win2000, WinXP and Win XP is the best. You can have it run for weeks wihtout any crash (single programs can crash but not the system). The whole memory management and stability is greatly improved. posted by knn |

I've had experience with 3.11, 98, ME & XP. ME was a delight, but XP was a nice change working alot faster! ME has a bad crash rate, but seems to be alot more compatible with alot of things than XP. posted by hungarian kid |

Quote: Win 98 crashes all of the time My 98se has never had any system crashes, maybe its depends on the spec of the processor and Ram you have rather than the operating system? I'm sticking with 98SE for now. posted by zesja |

If you are using your computer as I am: Stuffed with hardware, running it for weeks without turning off, programming and messing with the system resources, then Win98 is a no-go. The worst was win 3.1 however. Let me give you an example: You start the computer, no programs running, you go shopping and come back: Computer crashed. posted by knn |
