Do not consider the violent past of this religion, nor the religious founders. Just the current state of Christianity

Y'see the big problem with this thread is...

It presumes that Christianity is just one thing. Christianity is several denominations each with many different believers who react in different ways to the message of that denomination. Any kind of value judgment on 'Christianity' will be very general and as good as meaningless.

Christianity is crap when it's in the hands of intolerant fundamentalists who make Christianity into some kind of special VIP club. Christianity is great when it is in the hands of caring people who think that a message of love will help us to make the world better for all those who are suffering.

It's strange how a religion which tells us not to judge has caused some people to become such judgmental monsters. It's even stranger to think that some of the most caring, generous, warm-hearted people I have met are motivated by the same religion as these intolerant vampires.

What it attracts

Because it's irrelevant what a religion says. It's important what people it attracts.

Yeah, that's what I don't like about some Christians. They follow the rules, do the fastening, go to church, say prayers before going to bed, give small change to the begging people and they think that all gives them a right to say and do to other people whatever they want. "I am a true Christian and I am therefore right". Beh.
I guess the problem is than not with the religion, but with people. In every religious group there are good people and there are crazy people. It means that probably it doesn't really matter what religion you are... And honestly, I think that the most arrogant and disagreable people I've met were (firmly believing) Cristians.

Sure Christianity has a lot of denominations. Still I don't have a problem with the poll questions. It's more or less the same as if you were asked "Is bread OK?" You can start arguing that there is Bread and there is bread, bread, you know, has different varieties, but that's not the point. When people say "Christianity" they use it as a general word, right? Opposed to Hindu and Buddhism and Satanism.

If it's just comparing it in general terms

Oh, then I'd have to say a resounding... "yeah it's alright" Neomero

Christianity is not to good I have a friend who is actually a satanist and not one of those kill kill kill lets all go to hell satanists.

She doesnt even beleive in satan as a spirit but rather a concept of mans failure to understand god.

But holy shit some of the christians at school have a field day with her following her around all day calling her really nasty things and their parents incorege it i know a few christians ( my best friend) who accept other people like her but only a few.

Yeah they hear the word satanist and oh no she must be evil because she beleives in satan. But that's simply not true for one thing the satan depicited by (true) satanism is not the horrible monster(who is actually nicer then god) from the bible. Some christian kids actually egged her once with really gross rotten eggs and shes found like god loves you and wants you to be saved flyers in her locker.

its just really weird that they judge so much

Yeah, OK. BUT: How does she walk around? With black clothes and dark lipstick?

How does that affect your opinion of her, and why?

Because Satanists in the sense of "Believer that humans are the center and don't need a god" doesn't make you wear black lipstick, but Satanist in the sense of "Black worshipper does". Thus the Christian cursers have a point, because she is a kind of anti-Christian.

Seriously saying, i really don't mind christianity but except

THE WAY THEY ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO JOIN!

There's once they kept on bugging me to join Christianity at my doorstep. I rejected the offer and the very next day, they come again...worstly, they started giving me unwanted brochures about Christianity, brochures of 'extracted from bible' quotes and many others!

They started to piss me off this few days, even in public, they go around in groups encouraging others to join.

Sometimes, they would drag you on for HOURS! Just to ask you to become a christian.

Gosh! It's our will wheather we should join anot, NOT THEM. I just hate the way they persuade others to join. Damn it...

Have a view to other religions, do you see other religions did the same thing?
I would say, HARDLY or NEVER. Except the christians.

No offence, i'm not a anti of them or anything.
This is just my point of view.
If there's an offence, please accept my apologies.

Not in this forum... don't worry.

HOWEVER, I think I must protect them. I think it is the duty of every Christian to make new Christians... It's written in the bible to convert others and Jesus said to his apostles (who were fishermen) "I will make you men fishers".

Now, if you tell them to never visit you again and they come back although you told them not to... THAT's not fair. But otherwise every religion has the right to spread their salvation...

Bloody evangelists.

"I know how to convert that classmate of yours, son! Show her the loving way of Christianity by following her around, calling her names, pelting her with eggs, and targeting her with an aggressive leaflet campaign. After all that she's SURE to understand the loving way to God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Go for it son!"

Um...yeah I learned something new, I guess
Why don't they just stone her to death with hardback Bibles? Probably have a similar salvific effect.

Set your George Michael free

Why are so many hard-line Christians such arseholes? Surely no one is "making Christ a part of their life" more than they are - yet it does not seem to have the effect you'd expect.

Nothing "makes" a girl decide to wear black lipstick, any more than it "makes" her dye her hair bright red, or blue. It's just a fashion statement, as un-fashionable as it may be.

There is a thread regarding this. My comment related to the complaint that a goth might be dissed by Christians. I think it is a valid thing, that Christians complain about goths who wear crosses upside down.

Not that I would support it, but I think from a religious standpoint it is valid.
