these two foods are the best foods a person can eat if they are on a diet why they work on a three pronged attack agaisnt fat let me explain the first way is quite simple...tuna and chicken(breast preferably...no skin) consist almost entirely of protein...the fat content in both is virtually zero as is the carbohydrate content this is beneficial in an obvious way...the body uses to main sources of energy...carbs and fat...if the intake of food consists of neither then the body has to look for alternative sources of energy...and as such begins to burn up fat stores within the body the second benefit is essentially the scientific principle behind such things as the atkins diet what happens within the body when protein dominant food is consumed is quite complex...but simplified down it is this the body needs to use more calories in order to process high protein food than it does fat and carb based foods anything that burns up calories helps the body lose weight...in order to achieve this breakdown of proteins requires more energy...and so once again uses the fat reserves the third point is beneficial indirectly the bodies muscle is made up of actin and myosin...both of these are proteins...so any intake of protein is predominantly converted into muscle tissue the more muscle the body has...the more energy it uses up...and so yet more fat is burned up...of course...exercise in the form of weight training is required in order to destroy old and fatigued muscle tissue...this is then replaced by a larger volume of healthy muscle tissue because muscle tissue is metabolically active where as fat it not...again...the body needs more energy to sustain it the problem however is balance...the body also requires many other complex vitamins in order to carry out metabolic functions so a separate point needs to be made an average fully grown male needs 2000-2500 calories per day to sustain a average weight in order to lose weight equivalent of 1 lb per week you should cut your daily intake by 500 calories...cut by 1000 to lose 2 pounds per week...this is based on a diet with very limited exercise...any exercise will result in a faster loss although this is not recommended to go below this reduction also has a detrimental effect...without the caloric input to the body...the metabolic rate slows down and the burning of fat stores decreases dramatically a similar effect occurs with alchohol...this is used by the body as a more readily available energy source and decreases the bodies fat metabolism by up to 70-80% also a pint of beer has 200 calories...and i know people who drink 15 pints on a night out...that 3000 calories...and that before food is calculated so once again chicken and tuna...get them down your gullets...balance it with nuts, raw veg(carrots broccoli and avoid refined carbs as in white bread, cereals, pasta and potatoes substitute for whole grain bread(not multi grain),whole grain cereals and sweet potatoes... eat fruit such as strawberries,avacados...and get your vit c from citrus fruit do this and you will be well on your way to getting the body you want...you will have even more energy...combine these together...lots of sex with hot chicks as for exercise...do what is known as high intensity interval training...this means go as hard as you can at a cardio exercise for 10-15 minutes...skipping,running,rowing etc are all good...do this 3 times a day on three days per week...on the other days...do your weights its working for me and itll work for you and avoid sugar substitutes...and caffine(if you can) posted by the anomaly |

Quote: the first way is quite simple...tuna and chicken(breast preferably...no skin) consist almost entirely of protein...the fat content in both is virtually zero as is the carbohydrate content Which is bad when you stop with this diet. Because in real life there is a lot of fat. And if after that diet your body stopped to be used to digest fats you will regain your fat pretty fast. Quote: eat fruit such as strawberries,avacados...and get your vit c from citrus fruit There is not much vitamin C in fruits. Quote: also a pint of beer has 200 calories What makes you fat from beer are not the calories. At least not alone. You get a beer belly because it puts your body in a pregnant mode. posted by knn |

Quote: Because in real life there is a lot of fat. there is only a lot of fat if you eat a lot of fat...so this statement is quite bizzare if you mean there is a lot of fat in natural products then yes...but think about how much of what humans eat is not natural anyway...these are what contain the huge amounts of fat as for saying your body wont be used to it...it wont matter if it is or not if your metabolism is high...if it is then your body will be able to cope easily...you only put on weight again if the fat you consume is not being used for energy...which means you will be taking lots of carbohydrates...not a good thing citrus fruit has high amounts of vit c and is healthier than may other sources of it and as for the beer thing...i never said beer makes you fat...because beer contains no fat...what it does is prevent your body from using the fat it already has by huge amounts...it does this by being are far more easily utilised energy source than any of your food sources...if these contain fat...then the fat remains unused and ends up as stores of fat... posted by the anomaly |

Quote: there is only a lot of fat if you eat a lot of fat...so this statement is quite bizzare No, it's normal eating behavior. If you don't eat a lot of fat, you are on a diet. As soon as you return to a non-diet lifestyle (= eat something else than tuna and chicken) you cannot escape fat. Quote: it wont matter if it is or not if your metabolism is high. Oh so you started the topic about tuna and chicken and now we have to MOVE our bodies around? The problem with diets is: They ALL work. I could list 142 diets ("Eat melons only", "Drink goat milk only", "Eat seeds only"). It all works until to the very day where you start to come off the diet. That is the problem. Quote: citrus fruit has high amounts of vit c and is healthier than may other sources of it Still very low. Quote: it does this by being are far more easily utilised energy source than any of your food sources No, this is half of the truth. The full truth is that wine has more calories in an easy available form too but doesn't make you a wine belly so easily. It's the hormone stimulating effect of beer that makes you gain fat. It puts your body in a similar state as the body of a pregnant woman = getting fatter. posted by knn |

but what you will see in my post is not really a diet that you describe it simply shows what is good with regards to the functioning of the body and what is bad it will also not leave you deficient in one of more mineral or vitamin Quote: Oh so you started the topic about tuna and chicken and now we have to MOVE our bodies around? just so you know...a high metabolism is not neccessarily linked to exercise...it is related to how your body uses and processes nutrients...as i stated in the first post...you can eat very little and not lose weight...why...because your body needs food to keep all of its processes going...including the transfomation of fat to utilisable energy...this is why going below 1500 calories is detrimental to the body with regards to losing weight Quote: No, it's normal eating behavior. If you don't eat a lot of fat, you are on a diet. As soon as you return to a non-diet lifestyle (= eat something else than tuna and chicken) you cannot escape fat. but you sont need to "escape" fat...eating fat can be used to maintain a particular weight...the problem lies with the fact that fat is the 2nd energy source of the body...if you eat fat without carbs(as per the atkins diet)you will lose weight because the body uses this fat and more in order to maintain the bodys functioning if you eat lots of fat and carbs(a burger with fat and its bun with carbs)...then the body will use the high energy, easily accesible energy carbs...and simply store the food...this is entirely natural biologically as most animals live through a period of starvation...humans do not...so these fat stores are never used up...they simply get bigger and bigger if your normal weight...then by all means eat burgers...but if you want to lose weight then try to limit these foods if you are trying to increase muscle then use lots of protein i myself am in a difficult situation...im trying to do something that is considered by nutritionists as very difficult... im trying to lose fat and build muscle simultanaously the body needs a high amount of calories (at least the 2000 minimum recommended) from high protein foods reducing caloric intake simply results in a loss of muscle tissue and hitting the weights merely slows this process rather that reverses it but i am on a knife egde with this balance and im being successful i have lost 2 and a half stone(or 30lbs)in 7 weeks(to fast...but i have a lot to lose) i have also managed to build muscle tissue with the best results across the shoulders arms and chest all from following the advice from the menshealth.com nutritionist that i posted initially posted by the anomaly |

Quote: it simply shows what is good with regards to the functioning of the body and what is bad I just read the typical "this diet is good because" talk. Is anyone ever promoting a diet without any arguments for it? Quote: it will also not leave you deficient in one of more mineral or vitamin I doubt it that you can be non-deficient, except if you take vitamin pills. No oranges can ever provide enough vitamins to help you to fight the usual pollution of air and water. Quote: just so you know...a high metabolism is not neccessarily linked to exercise...it is related to how your body uses and processes nutrients And that is related to thyroid hormones. You could probably eat 10 pizzas per day with some additional thyroid hormones. Quote: if you eat fat without carbs(as per the atkins diet)you will lose weight because the body uses this fat and more in order to maintain the bodys functioning Why the Atkins works is still unclear. Protein (= meat) plays a role (you lose a lot of hunger if you eat proteins). Your body keeps used to digest fat (= meat) if you are on the Atkins diet. Thus tuna and chicken is cool, since you eat a lot of proteins and still stay used to digest fat. posted by knn |

Quote: Why the Atkins works is still unclear. Protein (= meat) plays a role the latest research was as i posted earlier at first they thought that fat was an appetite inhibitor...but this was proved false it turned out that the body uses vastly more calories in the breakdown of protein than it does with fat or carbs...hence the high protein content of the atkins diet forces the body to burn calories in order to utilise the food. this is the latest scientific study on the atkins diet anyway...but other past studies have since been proved wrong..so who knows? posted by the anomaly |

ive lost 52 lbs on this high protein diet this is misleading though as i now go to the gym 3 days a week and do heavy weight training to build muscle this is because the more muscle you have...the more energy your body requires as there is more live tissue to sustain as muscle is denser than fat i guess that i could safely say that ive lost about 70 lbs of fat in total ive got a bit to go yet though...i was a very large chap indeed ive lost about 10 inches in my waist size which feels really great except has cost a fortune in clothes posted by the anomaly |

You're really going for it, most people just expect it to go away with an easy diet givin to them by some bullshit weightlosing company but the only one that can lose the weight is them, they have to put in the effort and not complain it's hard cus ofcourse it's fucking hard! I can only give my respect to people who actually take control and put in enough effort to lose the weight! Good fucking work man, you're doing pretty fucking well! I've heard some pretty bad stories about High Protein diets though, like they'll work but people get addicted to them in which a case one of my friends friends couldn't find any meat so out of desperation, she starting eating cardboard! posted by hungarian kid |

hungarian kid: I've heard some pretty bad stories about High Protein diets though, like they'll work but people get addicted to them What one calls addiction the other calls healthy hunger for some good steak. hungarian kid: one of my friends friends couldn't find any meat so out of desperation, she starting eating cardboard! Cardboard is carbohydrates. Thus maybe it was a "carbo flash" = the sudden appetite for sugar. posted by knn |

Please let me add that I think that meaty/protein diets are the best. The amount of suffering is very low compared to other diets. And more importantly: The switch problem (= switching back to normal eating) are quite low. posted by knn |
