American English is clearer and easier to understand for me. British and Australian English sounds cooler though. While when someone speaks Jamaican English, it's like listening to a person that's stoned 24/7. posted by Echelon |

I voted American English, but theres also loads of regional variations in nearly all of these which does make quite a difference depending on what your'e used to hearing. posted by zesja |

with what Echelon says. However, I also concur w/zesja about certain regional dialects of American English. I don't mind the "East Coast" accent, but the "Southern" accent and the "Northern" accent drive me up the wall! posted by GP |

Angelina Jolie speaks in Oxford English for the Tomb Raider movies. Does that make the movies better or worse? BETTER! Why? Because Oxford English is cool! Duh! American English is annoying. Never more so than when it is used to say the following words "If it weren't for my country you'd all be speaking German!" because never has so much bollocks been uttered. posted by fatpie42 |

Doesn't Oxford English sound too stuck-up? And American English too chewing-gummy? posted by knn |

Don't think so! She sounds distunguished. There IS a difference. Americans sound stuck up all the time. There are tons of arrogant americans out there. Doesn't mean that it's the accents fault. It's not the accent. It's what you do with it that counts. posted by fatpie42 |
