Breaking News in the UK at the moment but a long debated topic:
Quote:
BREAKING NEWS:
Activists have been wrestled to the ground as they stormed the house of Commons whilst the debate on whether to ban hunting with dogs goes ahead.

A riot also broke out earlier, lots of bloodied heads and angry protestors remained resulting from the Police hitting protestors with their battons.

Full news story:

According to some of the pro-hunt supporters hunting with dogs for miles & miles and tearing the fox to shreads is far more humane than shooting them?

So, do you think Hunting with Dogs cruel as apposed to shooting? and do you think it should be banned?

Of course it is!

Yep, rending a fox limb from limb is more humane than shooting it dead? sometimes i think posh wankers should just be locked in a cage with a lion, well i mean it more humane than shooting him in the head isnt it!

They come out with some bullshit about foxes being vermin and doing it to control their population on farm land...bollocks, they do it because they can go for a ride and drink champagne like morrons. God i don't loose my temper over many things but these inbred pieces of posh shit need to just fuck off and die I'm gonna put you in my storeroom and eat you for breakfast

Shooting it dead?

How would you do that? You'd have to know the fox was coming! No farmer has the resources to have gun sentrys outside their chicken coos.

The replacement for fox hunting would be traps. And the problem with this is that children or other passers by could get caught in the traps by accident. Anything, including foxes, getting caught in the trap would have to go through a great deal of suffering if the traps were not checked regularly enough.

My friend tried to argue that fox hunters were barbaric because of the taped evidence shown by protesters who try to sabotage the hunts. What he seems to forget is that the fox hunters often have some drinks before hunting and it is no wonder that some of them let their tempers go off the handle when in that state.

There is no good replacement for fox hunting. Sure it's cruel - it has to be! If foxes were easy to catch we'd be able to use humane methods - unfortunately hunting with dogs is the most humane method available with such a wily opponent. Ever heard the phrase "cunning as a fox"?

Exactly

I agree, the excuses or bullshit some of these people come out is unbelievable. Killing 1 fox to a ratio of say 30 horses & 20 hounds will not make any difference to the fox population. Where is the sense?
All they want is their drinkys and the socialising out of it.
Even when they had foot & mouth when there was no fox hunting, the population of foxes never increased or decreased so they are not going to be over run by them. So shooting the odd fox now and then would be all that's necessary.

fox hunting is cruel

It is now more of a sport than an actual attempt to control the population of foxes. And as a sport it is very cruel. Chasing the fox and letting the dogs rip it...

It used to be ok a century or so ago, when the sport was combined with some practical purposes.

Nope, it's not only drinking and socialising, I think. It is still a hunt, with a prey and chase and horses.

What bothers people is that it seems so unfair, the fox cannot do anything actually. It is doomed from the very beginning and finding pleasure in its suffering seems cruel.

I don't like fox hunting. But I understand I think what those who do like it find in it. It is the long-forgotten habit of real chase, and speed and blood. We are not that refined yet, are we?

And most probably it is also the feeling of being alive that this hunt gives to the men. A drug they cannot resist, just another way of bringing adrenaline into blood.

Any kind of hunting is cruel. I don't know how these motherfuckers find it fun and amusing to kill innocent animals.

What are you going to replace it with

It's all very well whining about how horrible it is. There isn't a more humane alternative. Foxes are pests and they need to be culled regularly.

What method are you gonna use?

How about..

..a hunting rifle with scope? and before you say it isnt practicle i beg to differ, people go shooting rabbits as silly ours of the night, people go shooting pheasant. If fox hunting is such a great sport why don't we see the common man doing it? cause it's for people who have more money than sense and believe themselves worthy because they are decended from some ponce lord(by inbreeding most likely) It's the last pointless bastion of the monarchy and like them should be eradicated.

Yeah the poor gazelles. Lions should become vegans.

The main argument against it is it being Bloodsport. If foxes need to be culled for practical reasons then there is still no reason why just the farmer and his workers can't take care of it on their own land without the need for it to be a sport.

Hunting on foot with guns will be the alternative, in more difficult terrain this already takes place.

You understood perfectly what I meant, den't get all smart-assy on me Mr!

White laugh

Animals hunt either for food or to protect themselves. Humans hunt for "fun". There's a big difference there.

Since when is fun no necessity? Considering the amount of drugs this forum's users are taking.

Nope, with hunting you make sure, that the fittest survive. Shooting with a gun from an invisible point can hit the strongest, thus is unfair.

There is also cubbing

Its the Cubbing season now in England before the main hunting takes place.

If you haven't heard of Cubbing, it is for training the hounds before the main season and they set them upon young fox cubs. They still hunt them in the same way as the adults.

Some people certainly have different ideas of fun?
