Pawnatron, I too have to go w/Fatpie on this one. I loved the Kill Bill movies. Tarantino doesn't make original movies in the sense that he comes up w/new ideas. He takes genres of films that he loves and then makes them original. Kill Bill was his homage to the cheesy 70s kung-fu movies the he (and me) loves so much. Yes, the spurting blood is supposed to be a joke. Quite frankly, I laughed quite a bit when Lucy Lui lopped that guys head off. Yeah, I know, I'm sick. posted by GP |

fatpie said his movies were slow paced...i hardly think that applies to black hawk down as for kill bill...if you don't like or have seen its influences then it does seem cheesy but its meant to be that way...personally i thought the first one was brilliant but kb2 was utter cash-in shit...its like he wrote half a film and then his mate phoned to ask him to come down the pub and he rushed the ending before getting pissed posted by the anomaly |

I'm sure you're aware of this, but Kill Bill was only supposed to be one movie. Weinstein (head of Miramax) saw it and told QT it was too long but didn't want him to cut a single shot. So they split it up. And to be honest, I actually liked 2 more than 1. posted by GP |

I liked them both, but all the major plot points were in the second movie. The first movie was mostly setting up the character of Black Mamba. By the second movie we KNEW everyone had better watch out when she was coming! Haven't seen Black Hawk Down. Haven't heard the best reviews for it though. After hating Hannibal and Gladiator I wasn't sure I'd want to see a Ridley Scott movie anyway... posted by fatpie42 |

..Gladiator is suffering the same fate as Titanic, everyone loved it when it arrived but now it's a few years old the general concensus is it sucks eggs! I actually liked it a lot, but more for the look and sound than story(non existant) or characters(wooden except for Ollie Reed who is a legend!) posted by Crossfade |

Ridley Scott is great at making beautiful imagery and moods in his movies. Alien made VERY good use of that without detracting from the story. Somehow in that movie, good imagery was enough to make it work. Ridley Scott is not actually great at encouraging good performances and sometimes I have trouble feeling 'involved' with his movies. Kill Bill, on the other hand, really pulled me in. I guess it doesn't do that for everybody though... posted by fatpie42 |

Saying that is like saying "2001 was like Clockwork Orange with out the nutty English guys and distinguished acting" Aaah, this thread runs so well. "in-my-opinion.org" fulfills its duty... posted by knn |

I liked KBvol.2 better then Vol.1, but I've always prefered strong story to strong action (Matrix mixes both) and Ridley Scott is a good director, but he does have a bad habit of making you fall asleep in the last 20 minutes of a movie with his dragging on with some scenes. But I still think he's a good director. Black Hawk Down isn't really anything special, and the Titanic never was. When I walked out of the cinema I was wondering how people found it more sad about their romance being ruined rather then the thousands of lives pointlessly lost. posted by hungarian kid |

Let me just quickly point out, that we are talking here about the worst cinema/DVD movies, which are already the best of all movies. All those movies are really famous (= made millions, cost millions) and are therefore subject to subjective opinion. The really worst movies are here: posted by knn |
