Accent Neutral

So (the ones I didn't pick)

Funtastic - That'd be brummie - Someone from Birmingham (pronounced locally as Bur-ming-gum)
Tom-ey-tos - US
Kent - South African and Australian
Dabriss - No idea, does anyone say it like this?

How'd I do? White laugh

Uk Classics

We have words that are pronounced differently by people in the same country and it's not due to accents or regional dialects I learned something new, I guess

The two the come to mind are;

Bath - sometimes pronounced "Barth"
Scone - sometimes pronounced "Scon"

Um... you've written the same options for tomatoes and director twice... why?

The people who live in Bath call it B-ah-th. But it's like with all sorts of words:
class
glass
grass
master

Northerners will say gl-ass while southeners will say
gl-arse.

And people who live in scone eating areas call them scons and that's the proper pronunciation.

There is a similar one that's not about pronunciation, but more about diversity of names.

New Thread I think

Nope, in Australian we pronounce it c-AHnt.

Frankly I pronounce mainly with an ARSE basis. Eg. brARSE, glARSE, plARSEter, mARSEter although I don't pronouce the R.

I say SCONS and barth (going back to my ARSE basis.)

I used to say fantastic but got into the habit of saying funtastic in an Irish accent! Aaah, is there anything better than to post here and to drink something

Ima-g-inn

What about imagine (ima-jinn) vs. imagine (ima-ginn)? I heard Malcolm McLaren saying that in his song "Deep in vogue".

Is that a gay way to say it?

What's the difference? :s

Also the poshest way of saying posh is p-oh-sh ('oh' as in 'oh! I see')
