Putting some anti-alcohol pics is a good idea. You could even put some pics of alcoholic illnesses on the bottom of glasses in bars. You finish your drink and see a pic of what your liver turns into... Actually, even though I am against smoking, I don't like the idea of all those pretty pictures on packs.  mymla: Would the pictures on cigarettes packs and beer bottles have the same effect than? Maybe, but smoking is far less hypnotic than drinking. Smoking has a more bodily effect (making you less nervous) while drinking can alter memories and perceptions. posted by knn |

 there is a cool one i seen on tarrant on tv the other week where you see a woman smoking and the camera is fixed on her...she is standing in a forest and the camera pans so that a tree passes between her and the camera so she is out of sight for a second and when the camera emerges from the other side of the tree you see her and she is horribly disfigured and her face is basically a giant tumour it has the tag line "would you do it if it did to your outsides what it does to your insides" if anyone can find it then post it posted by the anomaly |

 SOOOOO sick of trying to get people to quit doing harmful things to themselves crap. if they want to destroy themselves let them. my mother drank destructively when i was a teenager (and smoked, yuk) and it harmed our relationship at the time because she was embarrasing and smelly. on her own, because i was told there was nothing i could do to stop her, she became sober and she is a kick-butt person today because of her determination to get her children back in her life. we left her alone because of our disgust/frustration and she pulled herself out of that crap. she DID continue to smoke for 20 years after she sobered up and i refused to visit her house or hug her(the cigarette smell literally makes me nauseous) but i told her why and that was her choice. she finally quit smoking 5 years ago during an extremely trying time in her life after 50 yrs. of smoking and she is my dearest friend now. i loved her thru it all but it was only verbal and she knew why.

i agree that it's not correct to pay for their self inflicted health issues but every illness/disease in my belief is probably diet/lifestyle inflicted. as i am a diabetic(juvinile, type 1) and have adjusted my life accordingly(it sucks sometimes) and choose my battles and have many other social battles currently, i do still agree with you but cigarette smokers seem to be generally defensive/in denial/don't want to hear it. put them on their own island with endless cigarettes and let them smoke themselves to death (no docters involved) I am of course being goofy but the whole smoking thing is frustrating and i have many other battles and was just venting (and expressing my pride in my Mom whom, thank God, has no real health issues at the moment)
