  Quote: NBC announced yesterday that Conan O'Brien would succeed Jay Leno as host of the "Tonight" show when Mr. Leno's contract expired in 2009, cutting off early efforts by competitors to steal away Mr. O'Brien.
Mr. O'Brien, the host of NBC's "Late Night'' for more than a decade, signed a new contract early yesterday morning at NBC's headquarters in Rockefeller Center. The deal guarantees Mr. O'Brien will serve at least two years as host of "Tonight," still the leading show in late-night television, when he takes over from Mr. Leno at a yet-to-be-determined date in 2009. NBC made the news official in a news release yesterday afternoon, after it had been announced to the staffs of both shows early in the morning. Mr. Leno planned to tell his own television audience last night of the decision on his program, already billed as a special edition because it is the official 50th anniversary of the first broadcast of "Tonight,'' with Steve Allen as host. YAY!  and BOO  Conan has been my favorite for a while, the yay is for him getting an earlier time slot, to boo is he probably have to change some of his comedy because of it. I hope he doesn't, but it will be harder to keep the Masturbating Bear and other helarious characters with his new time slot. Seeing as how David Letterman had to change the way his show was with the earlier time slot where he used to be. he used to be a lot more controversial too.  i don't know whether to be happy or sad...  Conan is great, but I don't think he's gonna tone it down a bit. Look at Leno's monologues that constantly cointain sexual jokes, jokes about hookers, Monica Lewinski (still ), etc, etc, etc.
I just hope he doesn't change his style of comedy though. (I.E. "The Dance")

I've been a fan for many years. I don't watch him as much anymore (fuckin' gotta get up for work early), but I still catch the reruns on Comedy Central when I get the chance. Speaking of "2000," Jim Carrey did one about a year ago that my boys and I still laugh about...good times.
