»Any good Hardcore/Emo?«

I have really got into a lot of emo/hardcore bands recently and a lot of this stuff gets played at clubs. I'd really like to find some of the better stuff so it'll be easier to sing along to when it gets played.

I already know 'Taking Back Sunday' and I sing along to them whenever they are played. They are kind of a mixture between Emo and Hardcore. 'Thursday' are another band which is emo with a leaning towards hardcore.

Before Agent Zero says how much he hates anything in this genre I must remind him that 'Glassjaw' is very much hardcore. The genres hardcore and emo are very much linked together. If Zero knows any other hardcore bands that he likes then I would be very keen to hear of them.

'Finch' sounds a bit emo-like. The only songs I've liked by them so far are "stay with me" and "letters to you". I think Jimmy Eats World are emo too.

Here are some more bands I think are either emo or hardcore that I like:
Alkaline Trio
Dashboard Confessional
Million Dead
Funeral For A Friend
Brand New
Rival Schools
Strike Anywhere
Homegrown

Anyone got some other good ones for me? Surely some people on this forum like this sort of music?

Hot hot heat are emo? No way! I always just saw them as punk.

Anyhoo no I do not dress in emo fashion. I respect myself more than that. I seriously do not get the emo dress-sense. In fact, as far as I can tell the bands never dress like that, so I don't see why the fans should!

Their best song is definitely "What it is to burn". When you listen to it you'll see I'm not wrong. Wink

I have some more bands:

Skillet
Oleander
Flaw
Three Days Grace
Breaking Benjamin
Default
Earshot
Memento
Switchfoot
Thousand Foot Krutch

Genres

Ok, so I hate classifying music into genres. But I think all of those bands have either what people like to call a Hardcore or an Emo sound to them. All of them except for Switchfoot and Oleander.

...of all the bands listed in here so far, I only respect ATDI.

Are you looking for straight hardcore? If so, I can point out a few good bands...

Darkest Hour
Sinai Beach
Norma Jean
ZAO (a personal favorite)

They All Suck Except Link Wray!

I just saw Link Wray tonight.

He is 76 years old and the inventor of guitar distortion, which all of your so-called "hardcore" bands use ad nauseam, half of them without ever knowing a thing about where it comes from.
Buy any CD with the 1957 Link Wray track "Rumble" on it and listen to it over and over and over and over and over, learn it on guitar, and then you will know what it is to hear hardcore music.
And check him out if he comes to your town.
He's old but he rocks!
-Slayer-
PS: When he dropped the guitar pick, he made his wife bend over and pick it up for him. Classic!
