Post 911 I saw dozens of interviews with the U.S. public and one question kept popping up from these ordinary people "Why would they do something so terrible?" Perhaps if the politicians had asked the same question honestly, rather than drawing hasty conclusions based on very narrow opinions (Axis of Evil anyone?) things could have been different. Perhaps if they stop for a second and ask it now - it might not be too late. And if the answer is "Because they hate us", ask again "Yes but why?" And if the answer is "Because they are evil", perhaps it's time to ask someone new. Perhaps it's time for some politicians who want to know why their loved ones died rather than who can they kill to get even. posted by Marl64 |

involves the US ripping off the world...because people like us want cheap goods...the end...poverty=terrorism whats ironic is its usually the rich among the poor that end up as leaders and don't have to "martyr" themselves to the "cause" funny that they don't seem willing to blow themselves up but theyll gladly exploit the poor and goad them into doing it posted by the anomaly |

The ONEder Man: what is hated about it? i'm ignorant to this fact it is not sarcasm i really want to know... Great that's one. I did say a short while back Marl64: The sad part is that there is no easy answer, but there is an answer - they just don't want to consider it. But you're not going to like it. ASK THEM

Quote: He led like a man. He was not a fear fairy. His presence created optimism and a true sense of well being and the world prospered. The numbers show that. Polls acknowledge that. And sure few hate that. he did do good for the economy true, but if he had gotten his head outta his ass and done something when the WTC got bombed the first time around, we might not be in the shitstorm we are in now...and isn't that the #1 job of the president? PROTECT IT'S CITIZENS? in that he failed posted by The ONEder Man |

Quote: and isn't that the #1 job of the president? PROTECT IT'S CITIZENS? in that he failed It's kind of a mass hypnosis of Bush supporters. Let me repeat: 9.11 was on BUSH's watch. Clinton DID protect you. CLINTON suppressed major terroristic attacks (for example he stopped terrorists that wanted to bomb L.A. airport) BUSH is the one who could not protect you. Under BUSH's watch 9/11 happened. BUSH was against the 9/11 commission. BUSH made Dick Clarke resign. He was reading a children's book on 9/11 and touring the US to promote virgin marriages. Under Clinton somewhat 50+ soldiers/civilists died. posted by knn |

Cold stats: No of people killed by terrorist on Clinton watch are 100 times lesser. An obvious indicator showing he successfully protected us. And America prospered. You cannot prosper if you are not protected. Perhaps, if we had another leader like him, from any party for that matter, [think competence, poise and geniality], he would have commanded too much respect and awe even from enemies to attract a mischief like the one we suffered. posted by blueSky |

I think it's some kind of psychological peculiarity that's going on. It goes like this: "Oh my god. We have been attacked. Bush is our leader. We have to hold together." Another one is this: "Bush starts wars. Bush is doing something. The others didn't start wars. Bush is a better leader." (This conclusion is even more dangerous, since STARTing wars doesn't mean anything, can be contraproductive and may be used to hide something.) So despite of the facts (Clinton protected US for 8 years, Bush couldn't do it for 8 months) something in the mind goes *SNAP* and the misconclusion is made, that "poor uncle Bush" couldn't but fail, because "Previous presidents didn't do enough". Bush was in the center of the heat, yet he has the ability to appear fuzzy in front of everyone's eyes. Whenever you try to look at his face he vibrates and makes it impossible to have a clear thought that says: "Bush - YOU let this happen". His election commercials 2000 were very good though. posted by knn |
