Quite frankly, this is one of the best songs I've ever heard in any genre. A math-metal masterpiece, complete with the prerequisite time signatures and guitar chaos, but executed so masterfully, you're left in your tracks. And if this weren't already enough, check out the lyrics... I'm a carnal, organic anagram Human flesh instead of written letters I rearrange my pathetic tissue I incise, I replace, I'm reformed I eradicate the fake pre-present me Elevate me to a higher human form The characters I am Headed to a world Godly Then I'll be the new norm Self inflicted fractures I replace my bones with bars Aluminum bleeding oxide Drug of Gods into my pounding veins My decieving eyes exchanged with fuses Blindness induced to prevent destruction Ceramic blades implanted Past my ribs to save me from the due of inhalation I tear my worldly, useless skin Staples to pin it over my ears Non-receptive of Ungodly sounds I disable the audio-generators of fear Hexagonal bolts To fill my mouth Sharpened to deplete The creator of all violence Without speech there will be no deciet Baptized in vitriolic acid A final touch, a smoothing of features Completion, of the greatest art To cast the Godly creatures Humans once astray, made divine Stripped of congenital flaws We're incandescent revelations In a world of darkened forms Disciples, come join with me To save a failed humanity Follow the God of cyanide Into the new eternity Behold, a sacrificial race A cleansing worshipping of pain The new millenium christ Here to redeem all from lies Fucking awesome song, anyone who is interested in metal should download it immediately. posted by northern_james |

It's tempo is fucking crushing and i dare anyone to find a guitar sound that can split solid rock in half like these guys do. Try the EP called 'I', it's only one song that's 21 minutes long but it's so listenable it's scary posted by Crossfade |

If Mudvayne is math-metal, I'm math-metal. Math-metal is (in very rough terms) a band that is very technical, but utilises crushing riffs as well as polyrhythmics (time signatures) to make their music chaotic. Meshuggah are the best band in this genre, due to the fact that they simply blow the shit out of any other band. For the uninitiated, polyrhythmics are when the guitars and the drums play to different times. For example, the guitarist could be playing 4/4, while the drums would be playing 13/8. posted by northern_james |

Tomas Haake is one of the best drummers in the world, his feet do tempos so independent of his hands i'm begining to thing he has two brains 'Destroy Erase Improve' is probably the most accessable album they have done and doesnt have much cross tempo stuff. 'Chaosphere' is their best so far posted by Crossfade |

The only full album I own by them is Nothing, and I have to say...even if everything Meshuggah produce is awesome, their newest stuff is a level beyond their earlier material. It's just that good. With regard to Destroy Erase Improve...I've heard quite a few songs off it, and frankly, it took longer for them to catch on with me (unlike Nothing and Chaosphere). Maybe it just depends on one's musical background. posted by northern_james |

One of their songs Time Signatures was 11/26 which as Northern James said, usually Time Signatures are usually for normal 4/4. posted by HeatGrave |

Try Here to Stay by Korn! northern_james: Fucking awesome song, anyone who is interested in metal should download it immediately. Hrmmm, it is good! Guitar riff (the one through the whole song) doesn't appeal to me much, I prefer flowin riffs, this sounds too robotic! Just stop start... stop start! Still a good song! posted by hungarian kid |

Meshuggah is somewhat of an aquired taste. If you liked that song but thought it was too monotonous, check out their song "Future Breed Machine". Pure genius...quite possible the best song Meshuggah have written, and that's saying a lot. posted by northern_james |

Maybe it is, I don't give up on bands because of one song... and with Broadband I'll just download every Meshuggah song fucking possible! It seems really mathematical from the two songs I've heard, but it always comes in with these really melodic, dark riffs that just rule! posted by hungarian kid |

...their EP called 'I', 21minutes of pure power. I've also heard that their new album Catch 33 isnt going to be an album at all but one long song with more conventional riffing/song timing. The real album will be out near the end of 2005. posted by Crossfade |

those time signatures you speak of...i dunno they don't sound good to me...what would normally be a great metal song gets disrupted by this IMO what's another song they do this in? maybe it was just that song... posted by The ONEder Man |

I dunno, either you like Meshuggah's trademark sound or you hate it. Try downloading the songs 'Ritual' and 'Sickening' and tell me what you think. posted by northern_james |

I can tell you having heard the new album it is one long song divided into 13 parts (tracks). It is the most beautiful yet primal experience they have presented to us yet (IMHO). I know all will enjoy their newest offering! posted by Kalgaar |

I know all will enjoy their newest offering! I heard it last night, and I was (surprisingly enough) a bit disappointed, but then I listened to it today and it sounded a lot better. Definitely a solid Meshuggah release. I kind of miss the old, fast Meshuggah, but I do enjoy the direction they're taking their music (a lot more groove-oriented, psychadelic stuff that's heavy as fuck). posted by northern_james |
