A lot of the Chinese characters are also present unmodified in Japanese.

Yeah...that's because the Japanese derived some of their language from the Chinese. Only the simpler Chinese words remain in the Japanese written language, however.
knn:
Except for the counting. The French number system is said to be one of the craziest ever...

Heck, yeah! I always have to think for a quite a while when my teacher says, "page deux cent quatre vingt quatre." It's quite frustrating at times..."deux cent...okay, that means 200...quatre vingt...4 times 20 = 80...or is it supposed to be vingt quatre, which means 24?"

Very confusing.
Nianza:
I'm one of those creepy people who like words.

Haha, I remember eighth grade...wasn't it one book a day? Crazy girl.

I don't think I've chosen a language in this thread yet...besides French. But French I can learn. I thought I said Russian before. I guess not. Well...I pick Russian than. Because of the heavy gutturals and accents that I could probably never pick up if it was just learned.

...Weird. I am almost certain that I've posted this before. But I don't see it here...

I was in french immersion (NEVER ENTER THAT HORRIBLE HORRIBL HORRIBLE PROGRAM) so I know the number system very well. But yeah like 60+20+10 WTF

German, no other language, Because if I could speak German I copuld become a death metal singing sensation.

Also it just sounds so cool and harsh.

Listen to more European bands, you'll find that most have great vocals. Even Brujeria with it's Spanish/Mexican singing is awesome. I personally think German can be one of the lighter ones.

I would like to learn the ancient Egyptian language. It's very odd, but they know quite good how the different characters are pronounced

Portuguese

People, do you know where this language is spoken? Even a small interest will be welcome. The same way French kindness apears when you talk their language happens with portuguese native speakers.

I was surprised to not see this language as a vote option...
