After I pointed out at IMO → God vs Serpent - the real story without bible smear campaign that god wanted to stop Adam from getting knowledge, now I want to post some possible explanations what is really behind the 10 commandments.

Kind of: "The 10 commandments like you never heard them before"

First the pre-story: How the Jewish slaves left Egypt (Damn Egypt, damn slavery).

All citations are from the bibel, starting from Exodus 3:
Bible->Book of Exodus:
  • Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, "This is what the LORD , the God of Israel, says: 'Let my people go'...
  • Pharaoh said, "Who is this god, that I should obey him and let Israel go? I do not know this god and I will not let Israel go... Lazy, that's what you are-lazy! That is why you keep saying, 'Let us go'".
  • Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake. The Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things

= Lame wonder
Bible->Book of Exodus:
Moses... raised his staff in the presence of Pharaoh and his officials and struck the water of the Nile, and all the water was changed into blood... But the Egyptian magicians did the same things

= Another stupid staff trick
Bible->Book of Exodus:
So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land. But the magicians did the same things ... they also made frogs come up on the land of Egypt.

= Another lame trick. Not impressive enough.

Next follow other tricks, but they are not impressive enough to let the Jews go.

Thus Moses makes a threat (just like Usama Bin Laden, I see no difference), just as god told him:
Bible->Book of Exodus:
Moses: "Every firstborn son in Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn son of the slave girl, who is at her hand mill."
The LORD had said to Moses, "Pharaoh will refuse to listen to you-so that my wonders may be multiplied in Egypt." The LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, so he would not let the Israelites go out of his country .

Hardened his heart to commit mass murder to sell it as a wonder? What a psycho terrorist!

Then god (the "all-knowing") said to mark every Isrelite door (with animal blood), so that no Israelite may be murdered and only those with an unmarked door get assassinated (= the Egypts).

The wonders of god were actually so unimpressive that soon after the slaves left Egypt they started to make an artificial gold calf to sacrifice to it:
Bible->Book of Exodus:
Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt, have become corrupt. 8 They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, 'These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.'

Now follow the Ten Commandments:
Bible->Book of Exodus:
"I am the god, who brought you out of Egypt"

This is not just a sentence. Since god was actually weak (see above) this reminder is needed. Just like a school mantra "We thank Stalin for protecting the Great Russian Empire".
Bible->Book of Exodus:
You shall have no other gods before me.

Yup, don't listen to The Snakes. Don't listen to some "divine competitors" from Egypt.
Bible->Book of Exodus:
"You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below."

Don't paint how I look like, nor my space ships.
Bible->Book of Exodus:
"for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand {generations} of those who love me and keep my commandments."

What a sick freak and what a stupid remark yuck
Sounds like a Muslim/Christian extremist (Let's punish those who hate god).
Bible->Book of Exodus:
"Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God"

Now this sounds not very special but is actually an anti-terroristic measure.
God needs a break in observing any revolutionary movements (e.g. listening to anti-Elohim movements). Thus he wants to secure that at least on day there is quiet and noone plans anything, so he can have a break too at least once a week.
Bible->Book of Exodus:
"Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you."

Just to make sure that your overwhelmed predecessors (= the Jewish tribe leaders like Moses who were overwhelmed by god's powers) are always respected to keep the myth alive.
Bible->Book of Exodus:
You shall not murder
You shall not commit adultery
You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor
You shall not steal
You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

Just to keep god less busy and suppress revolts and keep god's ground spies safe.

Are you serious? You never heard of that? But you should, as a philosophy student. It's a pity that religion studies pretty seldom pay attention to a scientific/alien explanation behind "devine" stories.

What part of it do you disagree with? All the citations are from the bible.

Any counter-proof? And why does god need a spaceship? And why does god need a tribe?

It's mostly this fucking snakes thing. God didn't give a shit about snakes after the whole allowing humans to stomp on their heads thing in Genesis.

Yeah, the Snakes thing here (Exodus) is pure speculation. I don't believe it myself. The Snakes were finished after Genesis. Most probably god cared about rivalling gods (Egyptian gods or so). As you know Egyptian gods are said to have been aliens too. Probably some other race or party.

Offtopic. This is not a thread about pre-astronautics (= paleo-SETI, paleo-visitology, ancient astronaut theory, crypto-archaeology). It's a thread about the profanity of the 10 commandments and the "humanity" of the Elohim.
