Just bought this today, spent 10 mins installing it, another 20mins unlocking the game through Steam. First hour of play...sweet jesus it looks so good it makes Doom3 look like Doom1! the character animation is rediculously good, the facial animation is so good you can turn off sound and tell what they are saying, no joke! I think i've gone to gaming heaven posted by Crossfade |

In the brief fights i've had, the AI has been scary, if you hide the enemy actually search the room for you and move boxes and crates to see if your behind it, if they hear a noise they throw stun grenades to flush the area then charge in...THERE'S NO ESCAPE! posted by Crossfade |

I wont post screens with monsters, don't want to spoil it if you go and buy it WHICH YOU SHOULD! None of these screens have been touched up, that's how the game looks when playing, i should know, they are my screen shots [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] posted by Crossfade |

Not been on for a while - after a weeks holiday (visiting my Bro), I returned fully expecting to get back to the Forum as normal. Then I got this game. So two and a bit weeks later, I thought it polite to show my face for a moment. The question that most people have been asking is "does it live up to the expectation?" - I mean a year and a half late, you gotta wonder if it's worth the wait. Hell yeah!
It's truly amazing It's so smooth, and there's so much going on. It's always been a pet hate that you get to a frantic part of a game, loads of shit going on and the frame rate drops so much you lose your aim. This baby just keeps going, you can whack a load of baddies, spin 'round switch weapons, down a load more and there's not drop in response. And you can do so much - ok there are a few levels which are obviously set up to demo the physics engine, but boy does it work well. On one level, I must have spent half an hour messing with a dockyard crane - seeing how far I could lob containers (those big metal boxes that go on the back of artic trucks) . As with the original Half Life, I spend most of my time withe very little health and almost no ammo, but in this one if you run out, you can always throw stuff at them - Bricks, boxes, chairs anything you can find - there's something strangely satisfying in killing a bad guy with a wheelbarrow They've certainly raised the bar again - Doom, Quake and Unreal are back to playing catch up. posted by Marl64 |

Everything about it is fantastic, especially the Gravity Gun...man, I've had so much fun with it. There's nothing quite as satisfying as blasting an explosive barrel at a group of headcrabs and watching them writhe around in flames...just great. posted by northern_james |

How hardcore of a system do you guys having running Half Life 2? Is it as much of a system hog/killer as Doom 3? i.e. to play doom 3 as a high graphic level you need a crazy/super top of the line system... posted by volonteshiva |

Cost a 1000 Australian too (bout 500 american!) I'm thinking I'll get Half-Life 2 for Kringle day, I mean with all this hype, even one of my mates says its fucking awesome! I'm just hoping the multiplayer will be as good as Half-Life 1, and when I say that I mean I hope they bring out lots of mods (half-life multiplayer without mods is SHITE!) Ever since this steam thing came about I can't play The Specialists anymore because I don't have a bought version of Half-Life! Oh god I hope they bring out a new Specialist game for Half-Life 2... Mods are what made Half-Life one as successful as it was, just so many variations for the Multiplayer helped it appeal to a wider audience, dickheads and insanely good gamers had Counterstrike, Matrix fans had the Specialists (the best mod), Quake and fans of blowing the crap out each other had Team Fortress Classic, War game fans had Day Of Defeat (one of the best mods) etc.! posted by hungarian kid |
