»What determines your next life?«

Crossfade:
..souls are manifested as what we call ghosts, they are in limbo as the person they were untill they can occupy a body with a clean slate so to speak?

Who/what determines what body they go into? Reincarnation lore often states that people can be reincarnated into other creatures as well, depending on their Karma in their previous life...

is it said if they can choose what creature to enter? or does each creature = a certain amount of karma and that's how it gets chosen?

You chose, unless someone influences you

You yourself, if you are not totally messed up. If you have recently lost your body then follow my tips as I stated at IMO → What sucks about death!#22487

Depends on your definition of Karma. Since this isn't defined properly, I would suggest you forget it totally and choose your body yourself next time.

I probably could hypnotize you this lifetime and give you the command to take a female baby body in your next life time. If my hypnosis would be strong enough you would follow my command. If that's what you consider "Karma" then Karma is MADE or WANTED.

Just a way of saying...

Last strong thought before sleep, becomes the first thought of the next day. It is suggested that as long as there is a strong urge or unresolved thought, it will find its worldly expression, even beyond a life. Such an expression can be seen as rebirth. And this 'urge/thought' complex can be seen as soul.

Re: possessing bodies

If there are so many of them (or rather "us" Very Happy ) as knn suggests, than I guess they don't all spend their time on Earth. There must be other places they can choose to go. Also, I guess in some cases "one of us" can take a non-human body he will consider attracting/beautiful/interesting enough. There are some highly intelligent animals, even too intelligent - like some dogs and horses and cats.

So is the soul entity itself making the choices for their next corporeal insertion/encompassing or is some Univeral Soul Inc. making the decisions?

Hidden Impressions

Quote:
is some Univeral Soul Inc. making the decisions

A mythological character called 'ChtraGupta' decides that...But that is a metaphor. Chitra means image/impressions. Gupta means hiddne. So it is one's hidden impressions shapes his/her own trajectory.

I hope you yourself as a soul can determine where you go and who will be you parents this time. It is your own decisions therefore that create your next life - decisions from this life or even previous ones.
However, if you take into account knn's point of view, that as a being you can be hypnotised, than maybe it is not only your personal wishes but also someone else's. Would be a pity if that is possible, because the hypnosis could have included a command to forget the order, and than you think you make your own decisions, whereas it is that doctor who thought it will be better for you if you do/don't do something.

Vicious plans

In other words: The parents you have NOW and the problems you have NOW could be all part of a vicious hoax.
