known as the brocken spectre...this happens when a climbers shadow is cast onto the cloud from above or below during a setting sun...the last pic also shows how it can be mimicked using a car headlamps in fog [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] posted by the anomaly |

these are known as cloud shadow...it occurs when a setting sun casts a cloud shadow upwards which gives the appearance of darkening the sky where the shadow normally is [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] posted by the anomaly |

known as the morning glory...it is a hollow pipe cloud formation that occurs about once a year in Australia and it rolls across the sky at a fast pace(for clouds anyway) [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] posted by the anomaly |

known as noctilucent cloud or "night shining".it occurs when clouds(actually ice formation) form about 50 miles above the highest normal cloud during the night...at certain times the sun which has already set still has a direct line to the high clouds which reflect the light and cause them to glow [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] posted by the anomaly |

oops...one didn't work...here it is plus ones of an extremely rare sun phenomena known as "green flash"...it occurs just as the sun id dipping over the horizon after an extremely hot day...the atmosphere of the earth bends the spectrum of sunlight and so once the sun is over the horizon you can still see the green of the spectrum for a split second only in really clear skies...not particularly stunning in picture but apparently lights up the sky green when witnessed first hand [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] posted by the anomaly |

forgot the last ice berg pic again this is a quirky little phenomena known as "snow rollers"...it happen during snow fall when there is a constant wind from a single direction...it catches the snow and moves it like tumbleweed into rolled formation that are very delicate to touch and usually crumble apart when you try to lift them [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] posted by the anomaly |

this is a water phenomena known as "halocline"...it occurs when salt water forms a layer above fresh water and the 2 distinct layers can be seen when diving...it mostly occurs in deep submerged caves when the water tends to be very still and not get mixed...the layering results in an optical illusion for the diver whereby you can see the caves beyond the halocline but when the diver in front passes through it they almost disapear and become very fuzzy...the same happens when the person following goes through...everything appears fuzzy to them then becomes clear once through the halocline [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] posted by the anomaly |
