You can draw really well! Proportions are correct and the shading is very well done. I like the first one more, but they're both great. posted by anonymyus |

knn: And did you fall in love with your own drawings? Yeah, we are thinking about getting married, just have to decide spring or summer wedding. Somewhere dry though. She really hates to get wet, that old girl! Not so sure how the sex will work out. Guess these are just the follies of love! posted by volonteshiva |

correct me, since im new at this, but is the alignment of the nose and lips off in relation to the eyes? the eyes seem to draw a line slanted downward, left to right, with the left part being the higher part. the lips and nose though, do slant downward but not as much. do you sort of see what im saying? like i said, correct me if im wrong. posted by sangu |

sangu: correct me, since im new at this, but is the alignment of the nose and lips off in relation to the eyes? Nice, you are really looking into some detail there! I assume you are talking about the first picture and I sort of see where you are coming from. I believe I represented the original image fairly accurately but it could be off a tiny bit. I will have to look at the original again to see... Well in the original there is a remote hint of a sexy smile so I think that accounts for her lip slant being different than her eye slant. This was the last drawing I did and I don't think it's the best. There was even a fairly large break in days+ in the middle of it. It is pretty close to the original but not as much in the tiny details as some others. Thanks for the catch there though. I think the problem is that I didn't transfer her "subtle, sexy smile" to the drawing well enough. posted by volonteshiva |

what technique/process, if you have one, to get the proportions done? also, how big was the original piece? just give an estimate. volonteshiva: so I think that accounts for her lip slant being different than her eye slant. at least you stuck to the picture instead of going "wth!" and slanted it. posted by sangu |

sangu: what technique/process, if you have one, to get the proportions done? also, how big was the original piece? just give an estimate. It's a one to one scale drawing taken from a standard 8 1/2 in x 11 in page. So the drawing and the original would take up most of the middle of your screen top to bottom. So the uled image is about 3/5 to 2/3 of the original size. As far as proportion technique, it's 1 to 1 so that's makes it easier. But for that I used to use a ruler and get the x,y of key points and transfer them... Now I just do it by eye. It's a "realer", more honest technique. By eye is more respectable. sangu: volonteshiva: so I think that accounts for her lip slant being different than her eye slant. at least you stuck to the picture instead of going "wth!" and slanted it. I may do my own editing w/ pics on the fly in the future but all the ones I have done have been about accuracy, or at least the attempt at accuracy. Plus, I would have went with "wtf" instead of "wth". posted by volonteshiva |

It's a "realer", more honest technique. By eye is more respectable thanks, i do that too. im workin on a pic right now and i just paste it onto a word document (8.5 by 11) and check the dimensions and translated it to my 8.5 by 11 paper. the problem with that is that the pic has to be a bit squished to fit in those dimensions. so i cropped a bit. i wasnt sure if that was ok to do, since i felt a little...i don't know...but yeah, doing by eye seems more respectable. hopefully ill get to that point soon. posted by sangu |
