 And here is one of the last decent drawings I did a few years ago. I have a couple of others but they aren't as good as the 4 that I have now posted... I can still ul some of them if there is interest... So this one is of Tiefling and his lady a number of years ago... Standard 20 or so hour job. Please do provide any and all criticism.  Here, people can compare it with photos of them - in-my-opinion.org… Pretty good, you've got alot of obvious talent! You did pretty well on Tieflings jacket, funking brilliant detail on the crinkles! You did really well on his wifes jacket too! The hair is pretty well done, but you did really well on the tiniest details most wouldn't notice! Kinda looks like Tieflings wife's jacket is really just his heh! Heh, do you draw demons or anything? Cus thatd be cooool!

Thanks, I like to make things look as real as possible. I definitely do need to improve my abilities on drawing hair. Realism t is why I can never get into "art" because it just looks like the person couldn't draw/paint realistically. I mean I could still appreciate a Renoir or Monet but I would never pay thousands to millions for it even if I was loaded. I would rather look at a Hubble nebula picture over an old art painting any day. That is why I really enjoy digital imagery because they are so realistic/surrealistic. hungarian kid: Heh, do you draw demons or anything? Cus thatd be cooool! If I can get back into the craft, I do indeed want to do some darker imagery, more fantasy and scifi work.  im surprised tiefling hasn't posted here yet. oh wait, its only 5 hours new, never ,mind. great stuff volonte. the hair does need a bit more fixing or whatever like you said. curious...was that a photo tiefling gave you and you copied? or did they pose for you? or did you just draw them off the top of your head? the jackets' crinkles and bulges are good but i really like the expressions on the faces. posted by sangu |

My point is really, with that much skill and with a bit of creativity, you could do some very fine fantasy artwork!  Wether it's dark or on the light happy side, I'm sure you could do something very praise worthy!

sangu: the hair does need a bit more fixing or whatever like you said. I believe it's a little better in the 2 Angelina Jolie drawings which I think I made after this one. Not sure, I did them all within the span of two months. The Michelle Williams one is better but it still can be improved alot. sangu: curious...was that a photo tiefling gave you and you copied? or did they pose for you? or did you just draw them off the top of your head? Indeed it was a photo they had, although I only had a crappy copy from my old epson printer. So I indeed have a long way to go before being able to draw great characters just from my memory/imagination. But there are plenty of people who draw "copies" from other images or scenes in nature/etc so I don't feel bad about it. It's kinda like artistic interpretation but I like to make it as close to the image as possible. Really, these are all just test pieces to see how well I could make my drawings look like the original photos. sangu: the jackets' crinkles and bulges are good but i really like the expressions on the faces.  I have this drawing hanging on our wall, actually. It was a Christmas present from volonte to us back in 1999. One of the best Christmas presents ever, IMO. There's a funny story about that photo, too, but that would be off-topic. posted by Tiefling |

The ONEder Man: can you scan it closer so i can take a look at your penciling and shading technique? Not too much more to see. I used 4 different black art pencils, that were gradually darker. And I used my fingers to smooth things out. posted by volonteshiva |
