It seems like what liberals want is appeasment. That didn't work with Hitler and I'm convinced it will never work with a power hungry dictator. I'm scared about the saddam thing too. I can already hear the people calling for his release. What's terribly ironic is that if the tables were turned, and saddam had any American kidnapped, he would be eager to kill us in his most brutal way imaginable.  some of the video footage on the link shows saddams regime members cutting out the tongues of his opponents before beheading them...or cutting of fingers and hands as torture whatever the difficulties and idiocy of some american and british troops with their treatment of iraqi prisoners...the former regime did far worse...and yes...2 wrongs don't make a right...but still... posted by the anomaly |

 ... releasing Saddam is the smartest idea since, well it's really quite stupid! He killed thousands (and deformed others) with chemical weapon tests and his sons were horrible. I'm all for human rights, but Saddam has done sooo much wrong and who the hell is gonna wanna send him free and just leave some poor bum who stole some money in prison.  They're called politicians. Every country has them. Saddam Hussien is a great example of a horrible politician. However, there are many countries with them and if America is going to use excuses like "weapons of mass destruction" then they have to make sure they are right. If America had said 'we are going to go into Iraq to liberate the Iraqis from the rule of Saddam Hussein', I would have replied "About f**king time!". The problem is that they didn't say that. Instead they said 'Saddam has strong ties with Al Quieada and has a WMD program in his country' - which has turned out to be BS. My problem with the Iraq war is that the American and British governments lied to get themselves there. Now that they are there they are continuing to lie about it. Not only that but everyone seems to be letting them get away with it! The question is, why didn't Bush decide to go after the other horrible dictatorship in the middle east. Namely 'Saudi Arabia'! Al Quiaeda were started in Saudi Arabia and it is a dictatorship which commits horrible atrocities on its people. But wait, America has a really good oil deal set up there which it really doesn't want to mess up! posted by fatpie42 |

again...no it hasn't turned out to be bullshit...the evidence that has been found so far has tended to be ignored the left media would portray iraq as never having had any WMD's...when only 2 months ago a shell containing sarin gas was to be used in an attack on an american convoy in iraq...the same weapons that were supposedly non existant or destroyed as for the al queda links..the report out recently was for sept 11th only...it didn't take into account the fact that mohammed atta was trained by the iraqis in explosives and weapons training...it doesnt take into account the fact that saddam pays the families of suicide bombers the news werent to keen on telling us about the oil deals that russia china and france had with saddams regime...in that after sanctions were lifted they would get first dibs at the iraqi oil...funny that they seemed so keen to oppose the war and keep saddam in power,knowing that if he was over thrown then they would get nowt oil... so people say bush did it for oil...the evidence suggests that russia china and france opposed the war..FOR OIL nice bedfellows chirac and hussein make... posted by the anomaly |

the labour government by my standards is left wing yes but our media insists on saying that they are the most right wing government for decades due mostly to the way they deal with asylum seekers so the government is left and the media is ultra left...i don't think the liberal democrats or even the scottish socialists are left enough for the like of channel 4 news and the mirror news paper posted by the anomaly |

No one says that labour are right wing. They are blatantly very socialist on some issues. However they are the most right wing labour government for decades and no doubt about it. As for this article, nerve gas is hardly evidence of a WMD programme is it? posted by fatpie42 |
