The bad guy is always British in a Hollywood movie. Though I think I have yet to see a Welsh bad guy, lol!

But it also always annoys me when they try to make you jump by building up the music in the background.

In the remake of »The Ring« there's that bit where she opens an evelope and discovers... a milipede! And d'you know what? EVERYONE in the room jumped!

Was this because all the people in the room had a phobia of insects? Was this because this opening of the envelope was a suspense filled moment in the movie? NO! Hardly anyone in the room cared about the envelope or the insect. They were scared by the blooming background music!

Excessive slow motion and repeated explosions

I think the matrix got it about right with the bullet time thing, it was a really cool effect and used well.

Since then people have tried to improve on it and one spin off, is the fast-mo slow-mo combination.

The cameras zooms across a room at high speed and than drops immediately into slow motion to show a group of people walking or shrowing something. It just bugs me.

Seems like they're trying to be too clever, all style and no substance

Also when they do a really spectacular explosion and then repeat it four or five times from different angles, just so you get to see how spectacular it was. It completely breaks the flow of the action.

Exploding Car Tires and Cars that flip over at the turn of a hat. All realism goes out of the window - I didn't like the Freeway Ramp shot in Reloaded

I agree with this to some degree. I think the music should support the atmosphere of the film, not drive it.

I guess it's similar to Marls but i fucking hate Jerry bruckheimer and Michael Bay films that use stupid pan and slow-mo shots of the heroes in turmoil. Arrrghmageddon used it in spades and not five minutes went past in Badboys without that bastard camera panning past them looking all perplexed at the case a three year old could crack Not again

"Overdrive the sound" is soohoo typical, therefore i can't enjoy horror movies, by the way: did anyone see »The Ring 2«? Is it worth to watch?

Did anyone see »Van Helsing«? In it, there's a "car chase" --- a horsedrawn, wooden carriage is being pursued by flying vampires. The carriage crashes and explodes in a fireball. I'd love to know why that happened... did the gas tank catch fire or something? White laugh
