Ok, well at somepoint since I last tried to burn paid for music which has been downloaded off the net I upgraded my windows media player. The burning software Roxio is now missing and they want you to pay a pretty steep price to get it back just for upgrading windows media player The music files restrict you to only burning through Media Player so I can't burn in Nero Express because it says the music files are "protected" or if I want to use the Nero Fast CD burning Plugin in media player you have to be the administrator, and how do I do that? Or how else can I get these files burnt onto CD's? Any help appreciated posted by zesja |

Free CD Burning Software ♣ Just google it! I've never had that problem with Nero, infact it's told me somethings protected but that hasn't effected the burning at all, my advice is just click on that link there and you might find a program that ignores all that protection crap! Or just download a crack for nero, or download one of the older versions of Nero! Older Nero versions can be downloaded with Ares ♣ ( ) and most P2P programs! Someone will tell you how to do the admin thing probably, I can't be stuffed going through that process! posted by hungarian kid |

zesja: or if I want to use the Nero Fast CD burning Plugin in media player you have to be the administrator Are you using Windows XP? Are you logging into it with your basic user name? i.e. zesja Log in as Administrator. You will need a different password though. I assume you didn't install windows yourself(that is where the administrator account is set up), so you will have to get the Administrator password from your computer documentation. i.e. if you have a dell or compaq system, I would think it would list the admin password there for you. Or you can see if it is blank. Just log in as Administrator and leave password blank and see if you get in... posted by volonteshiva |

hungarian kid: I've never had that problem with Nero, infact it's told me somethings protected but that hasn't effected the burning at all, More to the point, not only does Nero let you burn protected (music) discs, in a lot of cases it can tell you exactly who you are ripping off, what tracks you are stealing and will even print you out a cover for it. posted by Marl64 |

I've never had that problem with Nero, infact it's told me somethings protected but that hasn't effected the burning at all, Ok I've downloaded at least 7 free/trialware burning programs that claim to burn any WMA file to CD and have had nothing but error messages "Access violation" "burning not supported" "Cannot burn protected files" etc.. Marl64: More to the point, not only does Nero let you burn protected (music) discs, Disc protection seems to be totally different to copy protected music downloaded of the internet as each track is protected by individual licenses: WMA files that you download from the Internet may be protected and therefore can not be burned to CD with Nero or any other program. So now what? posted by zesja |

zesja: So now what? Play them and record the output as .wav. The same thing that you can do with copy-protected CDs. With modern soundcards the quality loss is practically 0. Just make sure, that MIDI and Mic are muted (use the checkbox to mute them) posted by knn |

For some bizarre reason Real Player won't play the tracks but it will burn them posted by zesja |
