  one of the craziest stories ive ever heard. 0.6 seconds left in overtime, guy gets rebound, hurls in length of court, his team wins. crazy, he was a former quarterback though, but 0.6 seconds? i think the shot clock was messed up. any thoughts here? think the craziest though is when i was watching AFV (america's funnist home video), this guy leaped to save a ball out of bounds, flipped that ball behind him, and it went in (it was a three). but that's not the story in this link. just felt like mentioning that. posted by sangu |

The official basketball ruling is that if there is more than 0.4 seconds left on the clock, there is time for a player to catch the ball and shoot. However, anything less then 0.4 seconds has to be a tip in...and yes, that was amazing. The best I've seen personally was at the Wisconsin high school boys' state tournament...team was down two w/3 seconds left in the championship game. A guy gets the inbound, dribbles to a little before half court and shoots...swish. I've never seen a switch of emotions like that ever before and probably won't ever again. posted by GP |

 not exactly the same type of story, but still crazy.  i cant give excerpts since if i highlight a certain sentence, it auto. highlights whole thing..but basically a prize wining track athlete who competed in women's events is found out to be a man. and unless i read wrongly, he brought home the only gold medal  his excuse? a tribal healer gave him female status, but b/c his family didn't pay the full fee, the spell didn't work completely.  posted by sangu |

 i have a sports story, its not really crazy...more like funny. anyway, i played lacrosse for my university for a year, in one game about 5 people dogpiled for a loose ball, in the huddle someones cup fell out...all of us jumped up immediately and backed away from it...but nobody had the ball, it was still on the ground next to the cup...it was hillarious, everyone took a second to look at everyone else, then when we realized nobody had the ball we scooped at it from a safe distance, i had to run off field because i was laughing too hard...
