Clinton wouldn't know anything about timing. When Saddam was giving Clinton trouble, he did a little bombing and hoped he would go away. Well he didn't, and now Bush finally finished what Clinton should have but was to afraid to do. posted by liberal slayer |

On this occaision I'm afraid Knnknn that you are completely wrong. While Clinton was in power he dropped bombs on Iraq. I believe it was because Saddam was refusing to let the weapons inspectors into the country. When he agreed to let them back in, the bombing was stopped. I remember a satire show at the time which quoted Saddam as saying that the "weapons inspectors are spies". The comedian was like I suppose they are guilty of espionage, they are just really really bad at it! posted by fatpie42 |

They were concerned about WMDs in the country so they sent in weapons inspectors. When the weapons inspectors weren't allowed in, the government resorted to bombing. This was either '96 or '97. I remember when it was because I was on the way to a Manic Street Preachers concert while it was on the radio. posted by fatpie42 |

I remember that crowds of people were standing inside Saddams palaces. The idea was that this would prevent them from being bombed. Of course, America and Britain were more interested in strategic targets. They used this same method of bomb attacks to solve the Kosovo problem which occurred later. posted by fatpie42 |

the footage I saw of an all night bombing campaign was an accidental dropping of bombs in the no-fly-zone? Yeah, too right it was in the NFZ. It was intentional too! posted by fatpie42 |

I didn't say anything. I just wanted a link that proves your initial statement "When the weapons inspectors weren't allowed in, the government resorted to bombing" which contains already an untrue fact. posted by knn |
