 In the third circle, you find yourself amidst eternal rain, maledict, cold, and heavy. The gluttons are punished here, lying in the filthy mixture of shadows and of putrid water. Because you consumed in excess, you meet your fate beneath the cold, dirty rain, amidst the other souls that there lay unhappily in the stinking mud. Well they see it as bad becuase its self-indulgences and Gluttnous. (Gluttonus?) You don't have to be fat to be glutton...if enjoyment is the reason why you eat then you are a glutton...According to them... ...I think this is the reason. To sum things up; It's O.k to eat but not if the main purpose is to have fun. Quote: i thought i'd be lower than this Lower? Lower would be Limbo and then Purgatory. If you want to read more about ''where you go'' then this is an ok site  I also reccomend the book: Dantes Inferno I myself thought it was really complicated but I'm sure you english speaking lads should be able understand it
