The other day me and my friend ''joke ignoring'' each other. And he believes in God big time. So I started saying God and Jesus Jokes to bug him...stuff like: Jesus is not the king of Jews, he is the king of pranksters. And that when Judas betrayed jesus with a kiss is was tounge to tounge, stuff like that.. ...blasphemy would be the right word to descripe the jokes. Ok, some people laugh, I laugh and my friend gets pissed off, mission accomplished. Then later i go home. And just about when I am about to go to sleep listening to the music on my iPod, just out of the blue all the One thousend songs are gone I don't believe in God but now I don't know what to think, sure this isn't any cure, loosing all my 1,000 songs, but this is still quite weird... So do you guys think this is just a coincidence ? posted by Pawnatron |

About 5 months ago, I realised howmany coincedences occur a day. I take notice of every coincedence that occurs and there's a fuck load a day. E.g. Me and my friend were going to binge drink red bull (couldn't afford alcohol) one day, and my brother had just bought Worms 3d recently. I didn't know any of the secret items, and I pick up a crate and inside theres a can of Red Bull. Now we NEVER buy red bull, ever. And I NEVER play Worms 3d. You'd be suprised howmany coincedences like that can happen in a month. posted by hungarian kid |

Lots of things occur that make you go 'hmmm' some are massive events and others you hardly notice. I remember standing at road crossing in a crowd, i didn't see any traffic and started to step out, at that moment i felt a hand on my sholder and stopped to see who it was. a massive 18 wheeler flew past at 40mph that would have made a greasy spot out of me. I asked who had tapped me on the sholder and everyone said they didn't do it or not see someone who did. Made me think long and hard about guardian angels. posted by Crossfade |

The last supper was origianlly going to be a solumn affair, bread and wine and that's about it. However at the last minute they decided to make more of a party of it. Judas had just come into a bit of money and so they decided to celebrate. posted by Marl64 |

...So do you guys think this is just a coincidence? Do you surf the net with the iPod? Have you ever been hacked? Could the person you were talking to, have done this to you? I think it's more likely a coincidence, but a syncrnitic one. If there's a message here, it's one that your own subconscious is putting out to you. Maybe the files wouldn't have been there no matter what you said to that person. Maybe. posted by LauraS |

Maybe, if you hadn't insulted your friend all the songs were gone AND your iPod got broken. So by swearing you saved you a lot of trouble. That's of course... speculation posted by knn |

Quote: So do you guys think this is just a coincidence ? I'd say it is. As so many other people pointed out, every day there's a number of small coincidences and from time to time there are big ones. I think everything depends on the way you yourself take it. You might have been blaspheming and thinking somewhere at the back of yor mind "how will you take that? show what you can" or something. I personally was into religion very much when I was young. At that time somebody told me that thinking and wishing evil, however small, to other people is very bad and God will punish you. Soon afterwards I committed something of the kind and stumbled on a stone and hurt my foot. Well, I thought, that was a punishment from Him. So pretty soon I was stumbling over every thought worth it. That's pretty annoying, really. Now I think that there's nothing happening to you but what you yourself have wished for, however strange that may sound. So maybe there's some lack of divine presence in you life that makes you wish for some proofs of God even at the expense of the songs? posted by mymla |

Were they all songs that you really liked and couldn't get back nice and easily? I don't think God would be too cruel for you telling stupid jokes, but if he truly exists he might want you to start thinking about spiritual things more seriously... and it looks like, to a certain extent, this 'coincidence' has succeeded in that. *shrugs* posted by fatpie42 |

The fantastic miracle that is life is all around us. Most of us 'look through the soft gelatin of these dull cow eyes' every day, without stopping to think about how miraculous it all really is. Most of us simply think of ourselves as physical bodies in a physical world, where logic and law dictate everything. Still, we are forced to meet with the Mystery every so often in experiences like this. The Mysteries teach a different world view, however. Initiates of the esoteric schools knew that everything is connected to the indescribable One, and therefore, nothing happens by coincidence or accident. That does not mean that 'God deleted your songs.' 'God' is a word used to describe the indescribable; to use such personification would put unnecessary hangups onto the situation. 'Fate' is not quite the right term, either. 'Karma' is better; 'Causality' might be a bit pessimistic. I once had an experience uncannily similar to Crossfade's, only it was an automobile (not a large truck), and when I turned round, there was no one there. I, too, thought it was a guardian angel, at the time. The fact is, I will never know what happened, exactly, nor why it happened, but the fact THAT it happened will always stay with me - the Mystery made manifest. I would say that losing your songs was 'a meaningful coincidence.' I couldn't say how it might have happened - perhaps you accidentally hit just the right series of commands on your iPod (or disconnected the power?) without knowing; perhaps your friend did it while you weren't looking - but I have no doubt that it is pregnant with meaning for you (and you alone) to find. posted by annaerullo |
