Drunks really annoy me, especially some of the recent ones I've had to deal with. I mean...what the hec? Can no one just be sober anymore? I know alcohol tastes great and all, but...geez. It's not good for you damnit. I have to go to these parties I call drunken-Filipino-karaoke-dance parties with my father at my uncle's house (yes, I feel obligated to go since my dad lives in Renton and I usually only see him at his house or these parties). And...having some drunk 35 year old lecturing me on how I need to be a good Filipina and only date Filipino boys is very annoying as well. And then he had to put his arm around me and hit on me...that just didn't make my day. I mean, it's amusing when he sings "La Bamba" and dances, because seeing a drunk do that is quite amusing...but when he lights a present on fire and hurls it across the room shouting "BLING!" then...okay, it's still amusing, but why can't people just control how much they drink? Being around drunks...sooo annoying! (I am pretty sure I posted this in the right place, even if I don't get replies posted by iklbug |

You did it is annoying...renton? renton washington? i went to a party in seattle over the weekend and it was too much to handle, there is more to life then getting waisted every weekend. i know what you mean about how it can get annoying. i hate that too, being around drunks can make you depressed or sad, because its like, cmon...live your life, stop drinking to forget about it. its very annoying, although drunk people singing kareoke...very amusing. i will agree wit you on that one! where are you from? posted by Agent Zero |

Yeah, my dad lives in Renton, but I live in Everett with my mom and the parties are in Woodinville. Yay. So I'm from...yeah, just Washington. Born and raised here anyways. The thing that is weird about those parties is that like four people will get drunk and sing and dance together...it looks like they practice it or something because they do it perfectly and together. Sometimes I think all they want to do is party and stuff...oh well. posted by iklbug |

Agent Zero: there is more to life then getting waisted every weekend. There is, but it's still fun. Agent Zero: i know what you mean about how it can get annoying. i hate that too, being around drunks can make you depressed or sad, because its like, cmon...live your life, stop drinking to forget about it. Wha? What's this consistent stereotype that drinkers drink to forget? I drink cus it's hella fun. Running around streets like a dickhead, play fighting with friends, stumbling around trying to sing Bohemian Rhapsody, it's all funner when you're drunk. It eases you, makes you more open, makes it easier to laugh. I mean, it's not good to get drunk with depressed people, cus they just get worse. But drinking with friends, it can be alot of fun. But don't get me wrong, it's not the only thing I do. Just from time to time, I'd prefer to get drunk rather than watch movies or just hang around with friends, I mean I get drunk and do those things at the same time, but it's a mood lifter. I don't like sexually wild drunks, drunkards still have self-control, and I'm not particuarly fond of sexually wild people in general, I think the way someone acts when they're drunk can reflect their personality too. posted by hungarian kid |

HK your a rare breed, the ones i find anoying are the ones who do it 4 or 5 tiems a weeks and get the law involved cause they are too wild. the ones that start fights with people and the ones who take advantage ofdrunk girls. it pisses me off...oh and that's weird iklbug, i live in washington too, im from Bremerton! this is weird because i never expected to see another washingtonian on here! high five! posted by Agent Zero |

Agent Zero: this is weird because i never expected to see another washingtonian on here! high five! That's pretty cool actually, I don't see a lot of people from Washington online at all. And yeah I'm with you all the way on the people who take advantage of drunk people...it's really pathetic. HK, I can see how drinking is fun, or at least from what I see from others... attempting to sing Bohemian Rhapsody is fun for me even though I don't drink. It's pretty much irresponsible drinkers I don't like...for one example, drunk drivers, no good. Being in the passenger seat with my dad when he's all drunk is scary as hell. And...heh, all that other numerous...stuff about drunk driving. Sorry, surviving school on V-Day is making me all weird. posted by iklbug |

No body likes irresponsible drinkers, especially other drinkers with those drinkers. It's annoying as hell having to run after someone when you're drunk and trying to have fun. Ha but yeah, don't shun it as being horrible just because of irresponsible drunks, everything fun has irresponsible and stupid people doing it. E.g. most sports. Heh, 4 days a week? That's insane, maybe for one week but not consistently, that's just wasting your life. You can only have so much of a good thing. posted by hungarian kid |

I've never found that alcohol "lightens me up" or whatever. I'm exactly the same as normal, plus stumbling and slurring, pretty much. And I don't like the taste of most drinks I've tried[lots] and it's bloody expensive [6 euro for a glass of drink which I normally down... I don't think so.] The parties I go to don't involve people going crazy. We sit around, listening to reasonably volumed music, drink lightly, and chat, or play some drinking games. No insanity. I don't like clubs or loud pubs. Now, I don't get why people drink so much[not that I know many who do]. I mean, I used to find it fun for the novelty of it, but I grew up and out of that when I was 16. *shrug* posted by bluewolf |

iklbug: yes, I feel obligated to go since my dad lives in Renton and I usually only see him at his house or these parties Why do you feel obligated to hang out with a father that subjects a middle-aged teen(assuming you bio info is accurate) to drunks repeatedly and even to drunk sickos that try to hit on you? And on top of that he has the poor judgement to drive you home drunk where he could kill/injure not only you but other drivers? If this is an ongoing scenario, you should really question going over there. I can understand still wanting to be close to a parent even though their behavior isn't healthy. But you should really spend time w/ him when he is sober or not at all. posted by volonteshiva |

I agree w/HK on this one...most drunks are pretty fun to be around. However, just like in sober-life, you have people that are dicks, take advantage of people, etc...generally scum of the Earth. But, you won't ever hear me hating on booze...Me likey! Not drunk every weekend likey, but some weekends I do let loose...like this past one. You know, it's funny. When I was in college, I'd go out and get drinks w/my friends probably 4 out of 7 nights and we'd laugh until our cheeks hurt. I've really only had a couple of bad experiences w/alcohol...guess you have to pick the right crew to drink with. Finally, yes, it is hilarious watching drunks do karaoke...I should know, I won $50 last year in a karaoke contest and was smashed singing Sinatra tunes...hmm, kinda like the real Sinatra. posted by GP |

karaoke for me is the same as dancing...it only becomes an acceptable and "good" idea AFTER i have consumed so much alcohol that it becomes physically impossible to do well and hence the resulting calamity is quite hilarious to watch posted by the anomaly |

Yeah, Washington...strangest weather around here lately, Woodinville too. volonteshiva: Why do you feel obligated to hang out with a father that subjects a middle-aged teen(assuming you bio info is accurate) to drunks repeatedly and even to drunk sickos that try to hit on you? And on top of that he has the poor judgement to drive you home drunk where he could kill/injure not only you but other drivers? I don't get to see my dad a lot. When I do see him he wants to sometimes go to my uncle's house for drinks and karaoke. After my second experience with my dad when he was driving drunk, I started staying at the parties until around eleven or twelve so he'd be more aware. Plus, now he's built up a tolerance so he's not affected that much anymore. The dude who hit on me was really drunk and he's forgiven anyways...but he's my uncle's stepson so it's not like I can do much about it. And I doubt it will happen again. On top of the reasons listed, my father is proud of being Filipino, he reminds me I am Filipino and tells me traditions and superstitions and I feel obligated to go to those parties because it's like he's saying that's the Filipino tradition, what they do at those parties. Hah, I can't even speak Tagalog (except my dad told me how to say 'son of a bitch' in Tagalog as well as mom and dad They talk about me too but I don't know what they're saying about me. Anyways, yes, only when they are plenty inebriated will the family on my dad's side sing and dance to "I Will Survive"...so funny... posted by iklbug |

Just count yourself fortunate you and others aren't dead from him reckless decision making for driving. If you don't see him that often, then why can't he just spend time alone w/ you, hanging out and getting to know how your days have gone? How much does he even hang out with you at these parties? You know you should be able to expect more from a father than just hanging out at the same party drinking, right? posted by volonteshiva |

I've also gotten into the habit of nagging my dad when I go to these parties. I only let him have two beers now. volonteshiva: If you don't see him that often, then why can't he just spend time alone w/ you, hanging out and getting to know how your days have gone? How much does he even hang out with you at these parties? Well when I saw him last like...three days ago there was no party going on, and he said he wanted to spend time with me so took me to Pike Place market (to some store where he bought something I have no idea what it was volonteshiva: You know you should be able to expect more from a father than just hanging out at the same party drinking, right? Heh...should I? My dad's great, I love him, he has a good heart and tries his best with what money he has and asks me how school's been going. With his past I've learned what to expect from him, and am glad he tries so hard... His temper though...I just keep him pleased as best I can and he seems to unwind when he gets a beer and can sing a bit at parties. posted by iklbug |
