»Why've people stopped recommending songs! (Recommend stuff!)«

I'm starting this thread because I was very happy to discover the song "Nymphetamine" by Cradle Of Filth. But I don't see why we need an entire thread to recommend one song. Here are a list of songs which either I have heard and enjoyed recently or songs that I have enjoyed after finding them recommended in the midst of other threads.

Anyone like the Gwen Stefani single? Apparently her album isn't very good, but the song:
"What are you waiting for?" (Gwen Stefani)
is REALLY good! (A bit on the poppy side, but really good fun)

A while ago someone recommended:
"Getting Away With Murder" by Papa Roach
and I dismissed it because I thought it would be like their old stuff. However, this is a return to form for Papa Roach. According to my girlfriend, the rest of the album is also really good.

In another thread someone recommended:
DJ rap "Bad girl"
starting with a sample saying "didn't you know bad girls go to hell?" this is a really cool song.

i recomend the new kenny chesney CD...i know you all don't like country but at least listen to some of the songs on this album...there not really country at all its liek slow rock with a caribean twist with a very small flair of country. its caleld "be as you are" good stuff

Also i recomend anything by reliant K good music they have. um DAve Matthews band stuff...all of it. i also recomend story of the year for all you rock folks.

Got it. Check. Understood.

my recommendation

for right now is, fischerspooner.

its a very different group.

check out their videos, emerge and sweetness. (sweetness is my fav! i love what i get out of it)

they are like a "live art" type performing group. very artistic. very different.

their sound is almost 80's-ish, kind of like a re-birth of the new wave sound.

all their music is made on a mac. their performances are just like their videos, they are lip-synced, very "artsy," cool costumes, make up...i can honestly say that their performance was the best one i had ever seen. (i say performance instead of concert, because i feel it fits better)

the funny thing is, they claim to be just an "experiment" and make fun of pop-culture.

i don't know how else to describe them...i tried, they are unlike any other group that i have ever heard or seen.

"Neighborhood #1 (Laika)" - The Arcade Fire
mergerecords.com… [M3U]

Lyrics :

Alexander, our older brother,
set out for a great adventure.
He tore our images out of his pictures,
he scratched our names out of all his letters.

Our mother shoulda just named you Laika!

Come on Alex, you can do it.
Come on Alex, there's nothin' to it.
If you want somethin' don't ask for nothin,
if you want nothin' don't ask for somethin'!

Our mother shoulda just named you Laika!
It's for your own good,
it's for the neighborhood!

Our older brother bit by a Vampire!
For a year we caught his tears in a cup.
And now we're gonna make him drink it.
Come on Alex don't die or dry up!

Our mother shoulda just named you Laika!
It's for your own good,
it's for the neighborhood!

When daddy comes home you always start a fight,
so the neighbors can dance in the police disco lights.
The police disco lights.
Now the neighbors can dance!
Look at 'em dance.

I ran a quick search on the bands you posted and they look like things I might like. If you had to choose ONE of those (and one only!) for me to familiarize myself with, which one would it be?

well i'll give you the lowdown

kaiser chiefs: listening to this right now...apart from i predict a riot..the rest of the album is very pop like and generally not that great

the futureheads...the song "hounds of love" is a kate bush cover and its very good...decent days is also a great tune...but i haven't listened to the rest of their album so i cant recommend them beyond those 2 songs

bloc party...these guys are the future of music...the album "silent alarm" is genius from start to finish...very unique style...the 2 guitarists both use fender telecasters and so both sound similar during the songs...the drummer is amazing

the bravery: i like the tune i posted...think about a cross between the strokes and scissor sisters and you'll be close

the pattern...american bad ass old school punk...very good

my vitriol: old band...now defunct...a heavier edge of alternative music but not quite bordering on "metal"

babyshambles: the lead singer from the libertines..pete docherty...his new band...london twanged punk...not hard punk though...very good indeed...

but from those...go with bloc party...the album came out this week...its gonna be huge...trust me...i know these things

see...don't say i didn't warn you

ok, now i know everyone here hates rap but I'm going to recommend this song for 2 reasons that might make you check it out... 1. it has a big matrix reference White laugh and 2. it's not the usual rap song about the $$ and the bitches, it actually is intellegent sounding instead I learned something new, I guess

i want you guys to DL'd it to see that all rap is not the crap you hear about and if you do DL'd it, let me know what you think...good or bad Thumb Up
