Hehe if Volonteshiva wants to post why this is a stupid question go ahead. Everyone else can say who their favourite band is and why they are so enamoured with that paticular band. Most of the music I liked when I was younger does not seem terribly cool anymore. (I even went through a Spice Girls phase *hides*) However, the two bands which have stayed in my good books after all these years are Garbage (who I am seeing at the Download Festival this summer - YAY!) and Radiohead. Now while Garbage have become rather poppy and samey in their third and latest album, Radiohead have brought out many albums, each with something special and new about it. Radiohead's sound has always felt new and interesting and I can still look back on their old stuff and not feel embarrassed. Even their B-sides are very very good (which is why I have all their mini-albums and several of their singles so I can posess these awesome songs So that is why Radiohead are my favourite band! posted by fatpie42 |

ive loved counting crows for years and years...since i was about 13(now 25) it was a good friend of mine called colin (he prefers Kol) who first let me see the video for "round here" that he had taped from mtv...shortly after i purchased their debut album "august and everything after" why do i like them quite simply there is no better lyric writer around in my opinion...its absolute poetry here are a few examples from "round here" step out the front door like a ghost into a fog where no one notices the contrast of white on white in between the moon and you angels get a better view of the crumbling difference between wrong and right from "the ghost in you" A man in my shoes runs a light All the papers lie tonight but falling over you is the news of the day Angels fall like rain and love, is all of heaven way inside you the time moves and she don't fade the ghost in you she don't fade away posted by the anomaly |

I've been a fan of Korn since I was seven, but my favourite band is Rammstein. Alot of their lyrics are allegories, but their sound is brilliant. None of their riffs are terribly hard, showing they play simple music but are brilliant writers to make such beautiful songs. It's like a compilation of instruments where each instrument contributes to the sound rather than just trying to sound skillful. Each member of Rammstein is absolutely neccessary or it would just not be Rammstein. Rammstein, Korn and a few other bands are the only ones to have songs that hit me emotionally enough for me to have more than just a recognition of emotional music or lyrics, kinda like you can hear a sad song and aknowledge it as being sad, but it doesn't neccessarily hit you emotionally. posted by hungarian kid |

Tegan and Sara? They've only made four albums, but I think they may be on the cusp of something. They have this single called "Walking with a Ghost" that is extremely catchy. The interesting thing about them is that they are identical twin sister lesbians. However, they apparently do not make out with each other. If any of you play guitar, here are the chords to "Walking with a Ghost": Other newish bands Footloosifer likes: Ministry Pavement The Darkness Emily Dickinson-Hawkins Gaylord Manor Foppish Heights, Unitard Kingdom posted by footloosifer |
