...he was an average-looking guy...therefore his appearance is not mentioned in the Bible...and not because he was ugly. I don't know if that makes sense to any of you, but that's what I think. posted by nocturnal_anonymous |

Are you sure Jesus' looks aren't in the Bible at all? Not in in passing reference? Isn't he described as not having striking features, thus people would follow him for his words and not his appearance? I distinctly remember hearing this in Baptist Church... Isn't it widely "accepted" that Jesus wasn't "hot"? And thus all the images that depict him as such are ridiculous? posted by volonteshiva |

Jesus was, after all, Jewish, so it's kind of funny that he is never portrayed as such in pictures, movies, drawings, etc. I think he was just about average. posted by northern_james |

Here is your answer: He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. Isaiah 53:2 (New International Version) He was either normal looking, or somewhat unattractive. There was nothing beautiful or majestic in the physical appearance of this servant. Israel would miscalculate the servant's importance–they would consider him an ordinary man. But even though Jesus would not attract a large following based on his physical appearance, he would bring salvation and healing. Many people today also miscalculate the importance of Jesus' life and work. posted by the_answer |

Isaiah 53:2 (New International Version) What a joke. This verse was written before Jesus was ever born! How can you describe someone's appearance before he is even born? posted by MindSlave |

MindSlave: What a joke. This verse was written before Jesus was ever born! How can you describe someone's appearance before he is even born? Clairvoyance, of course. Holy spirit talks, etc... You claim you are a Christian, yet you doubt some important basics of god's holy word. posted by knn |
