Isn't the term "Mixed Metaphor" as in "don't mix your metaphors."? i.e. "A stitch in time is worth one in the bush".

Anyway,

One that I hear a lot...

"Take your coat off indoors or you won't feel the benefit when you go out"

Seems fairly straight foreward - wear your coat indoors and when you go out, you'll feel the drop in temperature.

...Until you think about it. I learned something new, I guess

Surely wearing a coat outside has the same physical effect no matter what you wore indoors.

And what if I'm cold indoors?

Surely to feel the benefit, you would have to go outside first and then put your coat on.

or when I go outside with my coat on, does my brain somehow say to my body "hey stop complaining , this coat does the same job as the house's central heating so deal with it"

Perhaps if you wear a coat indoors, your body's internal heating shuts down White laugh
