»How would your house look if you were a billionaire?«

I need input from my fellow IMOtians, I want to build a new house...

Any ideas for homes? Should one build everything underground and only a chimney sticks out?

cha-ching

Are you claiming that you are approaching billionaire status?

Indeed, underground homes are very slick. Very unique and energy efficient. Tornado/hurricane safe(to a degree).

If you have the money, I would def suggest alot of variety.
-Create a movie room w/ lounge chairs and projection screen.
-Create some type of garden, be it zen, rock, flower, vegetable, etc
-Create a large circular workout/meditation area in an enclose outdoor area.
-many more things I would do given the $$.

And make doorways at least 2x as big everywhere throughout the house! Nothing is more frustating when getting new furniture/equipment as trying to fit them through a standard small doorway!

2 windows in each room

• I would like to make two windows in each room, so that there's always fresh wind
• The bedroom should have windows that can be turned transparent and non-transparent with a regulator. The ceiling of the bedroom would be such a window, so that you can see the sky while lying in bed
• The bathroom should be in some uphill area, so that you can take a bath while taking a wide look (thru the giant windows/doors) around the garden
• I want an indoor-outdoor pool = half of the pool is outside, halt is inside
• Saunas can't be wrong either
• Does anyone have experience with aquariums built into the walls?
• Does anyone have experience with sliders from one level down to the other (like firemen)?
• How about StarTrek doors? Sliding away to the left/right as you are walking.

Do you think I should have a helicopter landing area on the roof, or somewhere aside the house?

Does anyone have experience with a pool area with a lot of party chicks? Do you think I should demand them to walk around naked? Or would that be too distracting? Does anyone know where one can get hot looking chicks? Shall I make an invitation on a blackboard of a university? What could the wording be? Input please!

Bongo's Dream House

There is a Life in Hell cartoon with a similar premise called "Bongo's Dream House."
I can't find it or I would describe it. It's typical Matt Groening weirdness. I remember it has a helipad on top of the house, just like you wanted.
About those university party chicks, we have plenty of them in my town. They bore the shit out of me though. Every single one bleaches her hair blonde, no matter how dark it is. They hang out at a bar called Bullwinkle's, or Buttwrinkle's, as i like to call it. Here's the picture page:

So, knn, that's where you want to go to find your naked coeds.

my house

i have always thought that it would be really cool to take an old empty warehouse and convert it into a house. wiiide open areas, very high ceilings. i would open the center up to the outside, to have an open "courtyard" type area in the middle...i have a lot of ideas, i just need to put them down.

of course, if i were a billionaire, my garage would be just as big as the house, maybe an underground garage. this has always been a dream for me, to have a very large "museum like" garage to store all my cars Evil evil hey, im a billionaire, i can buy a ton of cars!

i guess that if you have that much money and are wanting to build yourself a house...the most important thing you could decide on is the location of the house...but then again, if youre a billionaire, you could build multiple houses in different locations. my parents went through this when they decided to have a house built. do you want to live near a lot of people, or do you want to be left alone..or some place in the middle?

my parents decided to leave the city limits and have their house built in a small neighborhood in the woods. i really like their location, their backyard has a natural creek running through it, full of trees, their back patio stands about 14 feet above ground (due to the uneven ground level) and looks into the woords...they have deer and foxes and all sorts of wild life things that "visit" them.

i would want to be closer to a city. a larger city.

all you really need is 88mph. that's when the flux compacitor starts to work.

Some ideas
Well outside is as important as inside, I would want a house that from the outside looks balanced / symetrical and that you would never have to extend.
Lots of different levels would be good - probably no higher than 2/3 levels and then the underground part can be as big as you want. Must have your own movie theatre and club/bar.

You could have more than one pool - in, out, on the roof or underground. A private courtyard in the centre. An Underground garage with access through a surface car elevator thing. Aquariums in walls might look nice but they would take alot of maintenance. As well as stairs - I would want upright capsule shaped elevators that only take upto 2 people. And moving floors - always wanted some of those White laugh

Location, lots of land would be good but not too far from a city Very Happy

I do! In fact, two of my friends and I just finished doing this to their house. They're two single guys that decided to buy a house and live there until they get married. It's a nice two story colonial-style house w/wood floors, etc. When we were drunk one night, we got the idea to put in a fire pole connecting the two levels. So we did.

We just used a REALLY big mitre (sp?) saw to cut the holes...the tricky part was finding an area that didn't have any electrical or plumbing between the two floors. Once we did that, it was pretty easy...other than trying to get the pole in. Not again

Moving floors?

Hey, escalators would be great. I mean like at airports: You can roll instead of walking...

And? Is it worth it? Much better then going down the stairs?

if your a billionaire just get an elevator and use the fireman's pole as a stripper pole

Yeah that's what I mean - sort of like that, and they don't have to be slanted. You can be travelling about the place without even moving White laugh

Depends...

knn:

It depends on the situation. I mean, it's not good for going up a floor but it makes going down one easier...It's also a lot of fun when you're drunk, high, etc. White laugh
