You know,… Egypt is neither Iraq nor Palestine; going there is an “adventure” because you get to experience a very different culture (esp. as a woman), but I’ve never felt in any danger (I’ve felt much more in danger close to your last destination,… in Colombia, where I’ve had a quite….special….encounter)

The Red Sea is the closest (on hell of a great) diving area for Europeans (4 hour flight as opposed to 9-10 hours to the Americas). So, yes,… many Europeans go there. But you can find us basically everywhere…

And yes,…. I am German,… but diving the dark and damn cold Bavarian lakes is not that much fun.

Don't I know it...funny how they don't mind coming to Florida, but from the polls a lot of them still dislike America. As if Florida had seceded from the union and become the playground for Europeans - they love it here, especially Disneyworld, smack dab in the middle of the worst part of Florida.

Well, we had an encounter with some guerrilla fighters in the Colombian jungle…
The padre, who was with us, told them that we were a nun and a priest, visiting the church our order had built in the little and damn poor village we were visiting,…..so they left us alone.
During this trip we learned that the guerrilla fighters come to the villages for food and other stuff, and that the people are somewhat indifferent towards them, because they don’t do them any harm.
But later, the guy who had taken us to the village by boat was seen transporting a kidnapped man in his boat. We were told that he had been forced to do so by the guerrillas. But the paramilitary, since they knew that the guy was from the village we had visited, started bombing the place and killing the people.
Most of the survivors have gone to the city and are now struggling to master their new lives in the slums….

I guess you can say that they dislike the American politics and the arrogance and nationalism of this world power (at least many Germans do...), but that doesn't mean that they dislike the land and the people...

Wow, quite a tale...good thing you made it out of there.
I wouldn't go to Colombia if you paid me, and it's relatively close to me in a global sense.
