 This poll makes no sense. What is a capitalist 2000 years ago? There was no stock market nor banks. There was no cummunism either, nor socialism. The same way you could ask "Was Jesus an animal rights advocate?" or "Was Jesus a psychoanalyst?" Besides this should be a multichoice poll, because you can be a communist AND a socialist. Or a socialist AND a capitalist Moreover where is the option "None of the -isms"?  posted by knn |

 According to the bible, Jesus was in favor of loving your fellow man and giving to the needy. He was against the hoarding of wealth. So yeah, I'd say that he would prefer communism over capitalism. posted by Tiefling |

The communist party of Russia and Kim Jong Il are good examples, that being rich at the expense of others can be very communistic. Having a society with money, is also not capitalistic. Even in Russia they had money. Making money with money _IS_ capitalistic (e.g. living on interest, buying/selling shares, trading currencies). In fact capitalism and communism is the same thing with different facettes: It's "Making others work for yourself". The opposite of capitalism would be "A world without money and products", which is not communism, but anarchy. The opposite of communism would be "A world where everybody works for himself without caring for the other", which is not capitalism, but AGAIN anarchy. In fact anarchy is the opposite of practically any organized state of government/society. posted by knn |

Please also consider, that part of the ideology of communism is the fight against religion. Chruches have been destroyed and priests prosecuted in communistic countries. Thus Jesus is as far away from communism as it could be. A statement like "Jesus is a communist" is a slap in the face of every suppressed Christian, for example in China (where Catholicism is forbidden). "Jesus was a Jehovah's Witness" or "Jesus would support Benny Hinn" makes way more sense. posted by knn |

The thing that comes closest to what Jesus was, is... monarchist. Actually, since he alone will rule heaven and earth, he was a theocratist. There is a clear structure of "heaven organisation" (God->Angels->Satan...) so it's clearly _not communism_. posted by knn |

I wanted also to add that "Jesus was a communist" or "Jesus was a socialist" is similar to the nonsense statememt "Jesus was a Stalinist" or "Jesus was a Marxist" or "Jesus would support Mao Tse Dung". Complete nonsense. posted by knn |

Well I'm not asking if he "was" a communist... I'm only asking if his ideas match up the ideas of either Capitalism or Communism... God damn this... Ok fine, delete it. It's just a poll... I'm almost as fed up as Agent Zero gets...but I won't get frustrated here... But this is stupid... it's just how you interpret what Jesus was teaching other people... if he lived today would he be a capitalist or a communist? if he was either... But if this such a horrible idea that be my guest and delete it... it's a simple question...I have lots of debates at school wether Jesus was a communist or a Capitalist...and sure we don't reach a conclusion because well he was neither...but it's fun to debate about it...and since i do't have that much time because I have to study for exams I didn't perfect the poll...
