»Why God gives us choices«

kupov2:
If god controls everything that happened/will happen in your life then obviously religion, heaven and hell are meaningless. Because then good and evil do not exist and since you were fated never to become a christian in your life time is it fair that you are sent to hell if god chose the path for you?

As always, it depends on what sect of christianity, for there are different beliefs. as for my beliefs, God lets us have our own choice, but he tries to guide us to the way he wants us to be. he lets you be evil, but he gives you many opportunities to turn away. He walks a fine line, between controlling and utter freedom, but he does walk it. like predestination (idea God picks who goes to heaven or hell), he doesn't pick it. He lets you pick it, but he knows beforehand which way you're going to choose. He will try to guide you to the way he wants though. Even if he knows someone is set to go to hell, he'll try to dissuade him from that path through different ways (church, friends, etc), that way everyone gets an opportunity to go to heaven.

Why be created at all

Well If god knows before you are born if you are going to hell, why let you be born at all?

ok. well that relates to why did God give us choice at all? why didn't God just make us all good (if He didn't let the hell-bound people be born, that is basically what he would be doing, letting only the good live)?
because he wants us to follow him out of our own free will. what is love if not freely given love? we would simply be a bunch of mindless robots, doing whatever God says. and, he loves us this much to let us decide. both these points. number one would relate more.

I disagree

I disagree would you love your children enough to let them walk on a busy street where most of them are hit by cars.

he doesn't LET YOU. he tries and tries to guide you toward the path he wants you to. that's why there are churches out there. he doesnt simply go, eh kupov, he don't get it, im just gonna leave him alone.

why choice? why not perfect heaven everywhere? imagine this kind of god: fine then! i'll create a system of robots following my every move so that everything would be perfect. where is the...realness? the meaningfulness?

Well i suppose it depends on how you define reality and meaning. I don't think any life has real meaning. Not even people like hitler who knows in a thousand years hkk might start a thread on "was Hitler real"

huh? err, next time just click the quick quote button and select the part of the post you want to reply to. because it seems that you just replied to the last part of my post. and if you have, no no. i was trying to find an adequate word to describe why God would let us have choice instead of controlling us. i'll go back to this:

Another thing

And I don't think god is really fair to most groups of people take the native americans.

None of them would have seen or heard of jesus when he lived.
Existing culture was wiped out by christians claiming to be following god.
Were forced to worship against their will.

Looks like god ended up with robots any way, robots who beleive that was good because people beleived it was encouraged by god. How many Natives do you think converted to christianity after that.

Here are gods robot models

Buddhist robots
Christian robots
Hindu robots
Pagean robots
Atheist robots
satanist robots

all of these robots blindly follow what they have been told to follow.

Define robots

robots with no choice
robots with the choice to beleive blindly

i haven't seen or heard of jesus when he lived either...yeah. i agree with you. i disagree with the entire taking over of native americans and crusades. different factions of christianity, different beliefs. too bad they had to put such a bad face on us, imprinted forever.

You did not adequately answer my question.

When your a child you take what your parents tell you to be fact. You beleive them to be perfect whatever they tell you , you beleive.

that's the same as blindly following the creater except more then 50% of us go to hell.

good job Thumb Up , you figured out the functions. that was not sarcasm by the way. earnest. hey, SIGN UP.

oh well, it was rather brief. that may be your version of a robot i suppose. your definition, it is mine too. but for this one aspect, the example i gave in which I used the term robots, therefore I get to decide how its used it since I created the sentence (that was a realllly long sentence i know). so in the way i used it, that's what i meant through it. cool?

How then

Did you use the term robots
