»Mike Tyson is mashed potatoes and history«

the anomaly:
razor ruddock...you don't even know who he is...he was WBO heavyweight champion at one point in his career...buster mathis was also USBA heavy weight champ for 3 years and never lost a fight between 91 and 95

Yes, yes, yes... but as I told you: It didn't mean much back then.
the anomaly:
and you put down Bruno

Bruno is OK, but not in the fight with Tyson.

actually Bruno did something no-one before him did...and that was hurt tyson...i remember the fight and the commentator shouting "GET IT THERE FRANK"

it was brilliant White laugh

personally i think if Bruno had the right mentality he could have been unstopable...he was a massive boxer and had a pretty good record for a bit of a scaredy cat...

40 wins of which 38 were KO's and 5 defeats...2 of which were against tyson and 1 against Lennox Lewis

a great fighter...but just never had the mentality as he always seemed scared of his opponents

  man is only half himself
the other half is a bright thing
he tumbles on by luck or grace
for man is ever a blind thing

Well, he went down in round 5. Case closed.

indeed...fighting against a tyson at his peak...no-one before Bruno had even fazed him...and that list includes michael spinks who only lost once in his career and larry holmes who ,among other big name scalps...beat muhammad ali

I absolutely agree w/you, anomaly, about Frank Bruno. He should have been one of the better heavyweights in recent history as he had the size, skills, and jaw for it. But, like you said, it was all mental w/him...just didn't have the "eye of the tiger" when it mattered most.

I also will agree w/you on Greenberg. I've seen him, in person, fight a couple of times and have come away very impressed both times. Very technically sound and has a devestating right hand. Unfortunately, he has to fight more in the States if he wants to get a buzz going and improve his ranking. Bullshit, I know, but it's the belly of the beast.

true about fighting in the states...boxers based in Britain can only choose to fight there after their reputations have been earned and the titles won...good examples being Lennox Lewis (of course)...Ricky Hatton, Joe Calzaghe and Scott Harrison...all pretty much the best in their divisions
