No, suprisingly Hirohito was not really aware of a lot of what was going on during the war or was powerless to stop it. Short of surrendering, that is. That's partially why MacArthur kept him in place when Japan became democratic. posted by holy_of_holies |

Yoku dekimashita! (you did very well). Tojo was convicted of war crimes and hung after the war. He was the only major dictator of the Axis to be brought to trial. Though the court was a kangaroo court (biased in favor of America). posted by holy_of_holies |
