 Do American viewers really care that much about the olympics anymore? This link seems to say so:  The US has won the past 3 summer olympics and I don't know any big sports followers that really get into the Olympics nowadays but that doesn't mean anything... The US didn't win the 2012 bid in New York because in part there wasn't enough public support. I think that we in America believe we are the greatest nation and there isn't really any reason to have to prove that to other countries anymore. Certainly a generalization and it fails in specific cases but it seems an applicable starting point to America's view of itself... posted by volonteshiva |

I get into the Olympics...the Winter Olympics. There's just too many sports that I'm not interested in that take place during the Summer Games. However, I love the hockey, luge, bobsled, speed skating, skiing, and skeleton events that take place during the Winter Games...hmm, probably because I'm from Wisconsin, where winter last 7 months.

GP: I get into the Olympics...the Winter Olympics. There's just too many sports that I'm not interested in that take place during the Summer Games.
However, I love the hockey, luge, bobsled, speed skating, skiing, and skeleton events that take place during the Winter Games...hmm, probably because I'm from Wisconsin, where winter last 7 months. I'm cool with it. Great athletes are fun to watch, period...I don't care where your from. Granted, I cheer for U.S. in every event, but don't get dissapointed/upset if we don't win. Actually, the U.S. placed 2nd in the last Winter Olympics...  gkiss: i thought we did win them? didn't we? (by we i mean vancouver) You did win them...the Winter Olympics will take place in Vancouver in 2010.  But they will take place in Torino, Italy in 2006...like I said before.
